I am working on a classroom tank, and had intended to pick up live rock next. However, one of the children picked up a piece of live rock yesterday, and brought it in today. The LFS wrapped it in a wet paper towel, but would that keep the bacteria and such alive? This is almost a day later. If not, can I just rinse it with some water and still use it?

Use it. It will cycle like live rock does.

It gets flown from the other side of the planet wrapped in just damp newspaper. This is but a stone's throw. ;)
