Hello everyone. I have only had my 112 gallon tank up for 13 months. I have a white long tentacled anemone that started turning brown. I thought it was dying so I started to take it out of the tank, when I got ahold of it it pulled away from me and went under the sand and disappeared. Gone for a long time now I have 2 little long tentacled Snow White anemones that have appeared in different parts of the tank anchored to rock. Did the main one split??? What has happened here? This is a strange tank. I had a purple sea urchin that spawned in this tank. And now I have two clownfish that are acting awfully strange maybe they are going to be parents?? I’m new to reefing but any comm would be appreciated. Thanks Chris

I'm familiar with BTAs more than LTAs, but generally I think a white nem is lacking zooxanthellae, so it's possible that by turning brown, the nem in fact became healthier. Splitting is also a possibility! Regarding an urchin that "spawned", we know that's simply not possible, likely a live rock hitchiker that went unnoticed for a while.

The urchin sent a white cloud into the water. It’s the only urchin I had in the tank so what is he doing?

sounds like spawning, which shouldn't result in offspring unless there's another urchin lurking somewhere

I’m also getting coraline algae growing on the back glass. Are all of these signs that my tank is healthy?

coralline algae growth is a good indicator of ideal water parameters for a reef tank.

Same thing happened to us with one of the anemone's. Bright white with purple tips. My wife thought it looked so cool! Then it colored up into a drab tan and she lost interest in it. But our clowns loved it!
