I have an infinia reef 150.4 that’s currently cycling. Our current tank has a McCosker wrasse, starry Blenny, 2 mandarins, watchman goby, purple masked Angel, and a purple firefish that will be going into the 150. I’m looking for ideas on a fish/fishes that would be the star of the tank. Any thoughts?

That’s a hard question. I don’t really have a dollar amount in mind. It’s more of if I want something bad enough I’ll buy it regardless of cost.

I just got basically the same tank. I have a copperband arriving any day now & I plan to add a one spot foxface. Those will be my centerpieces, but I do plan to add some wrasses. Currently have 2 clowns, pictus goby, lawnmower Lenny, pajama cardinal, royal gramma & scissortail dartfish.

I love my radiant wrasse!

This is a loaded question and you’re going to get a lot of different responses. It depends on personal taste and risk tolerance. Given that the tank is new, I would not put an expensive / show fish since it may be for experts only.

If it’s my tank, I would get a small Gem or Black tang. If I’m feeling lucky, I’ll get a big Emperor Angel to build a case to get a bigger tank later! :)

Any color preference you're looking for?
That’s a hard question too. Something that’s not going to be muted out by the blue in the light. I really wanted something blue or a fish that pops in blue light. Something outgoing and not shy.

I would just look at a bunch of tank threads on this forum or look for “marine fish” under Google Images. You can talk to ChatGPT for ideas.

Tangs & angels — but I’m biased! lol

Right now my centerpiece fish is a Melanurus Wrasse. He's about 5 inches and a total PITA, but I love him.
His colors are amazing, his health is great and he's been pretty peaceful except for recently where he killed my red headed solon wrasse. But I think maybe the coloration triggered a rivalry maybe. Not sure about that though. All I know is he hated the solon wrasse and that was it.

He is in a tank full of chromis, anthias and a diamond goby. He was this puny frail 2 inch thing when I got him and now he's this big fat slob. Lots of food in the tank.
