Yep, many ways to go about a 40B. Cannister, HOB, Sump etc.
My 40B is as follows:
I run a Cannister with Bio Balls, Chemi Pure Elite, Matrix Carbon, Phosguard, Filter Floss and Poly Pads.
Lights...Fluval Marine 3.0 it gets the job done and the app is great with Manual, Auto and Pro settings with adjustment
Power Heads with adjustable app from Amazon Magtool Aqua ZKSJ .
Not terribly expensive to get started
