i am facing problem with my corals and trying to rectify it. My RODI is reading 0ppm cupper. i made just one 5 gal bucket of salt water to 1.025 salinity and tested the copper it was 0.02ppm. I did mix the salt with a clean glass rod. I did test 4 times with Hana checker and the numbers were consistent. My display tank is reading 0.12ppm. I can tell the corals are not liking it. I have just lost a few emerald crabs and a devil finger coral colony. I have added CupriSorb (250g) as my tank is 170G. i dont see any damage in any of the equipments. I never checked copper in my DT prior to this issue. One thing i added recently is a large UV sterilizer to the system. I didnt expect that was the culprit but just as a process of elimination i have stopped that use for now. All i am doing now is waiting for the CupriSorb to work and in the mean time going to do 50% water changes every week. Its an expensive way as i have to change 75G every time. I am giving my effort to get this resolved. The salt i am currently using is Reef Pro Mix Premium salt. I would appreciate any suggestions to come out of this mess

I have heard that it can be present in salt mixes. AI agrees

The copper level in artificial seawater can vary, but studies suggest it can range from 0.1 to 1.2 micrograms of copper per liter. Some synthetic sea salts, like Crystal Sea Marinemix, have been found to significantly increase the dissolved copper content. Additionally, natural seawater typically contains around 3 parts per billion (ppb) of copper, but levels can be higher in specific locations like marinas.

0.02 ppm is low enough that I don't think it is going to do much harm.

its a very low amount but test your water used to mix salt.... may be coming from your piping or source itself
