I just need some input on what camera to buy. I am looking for a new Canon camera, because as of right now i have a Canon powershot S3 IS. I am looking to get a DSLR.

Have you held any in your hands yet? Which ones, how did they feel?

Also, try and navigate around the menu's, which makes more sense?

The OS for the Canon Rebel line will be very similar to what you have now, and that may make it easier to learn the new camera, as opposed to learning a new OS, with a different brand camera.

Any DSLR 8MP or more will be adequate for 99% of people out there, don't get caught up in the MP marketing. I own a 8.2MP camera, and I bet that it gives better results then most other cameras on the market, some have 50% more pixels too!

I have the 20D, which is an 8MP DSLR and I agree with Posiden, 8MP is plenty. Depending on your budget, I would reccemond the 40D at 10 MP. Personally, I think the 15 MP of the 50D are a little crazy.

the 40d at circuit city is MAD cheap right now as its last year model!

Are you going to be getting rid of the S3? Ill give ya some ric's for it lol! Im looking for a camera right now also, im thinking about putting my xbox360 up for trade on craigslist lol.. I should be able to get a ok camera for it shouldn't I ?

Lol, that's more than i make in a year! Im hoping maybe i can get at least a canon s3 or better.. They take pretty good pics from what ive seen.. I just can't afford 400.00 bucks for a nice camera :(

kevin, that's a medium format digital camera. Nobody needs that unless they're photographing for billboards. It's also used by some landscape photographers.

ktar, i would consider the 40D or the Rebel XSi if you like Canon. The newer Canon 50D has taken criticism in many product reviews for noise and doesn't hold up as an improvement to the 40D.
