Hey guys! I have a 105 gallon softie tank. I’ve finished adding all my fish stock. Now I want to start getting into LPS corals.

I currently have a 40 gallon quarantine which I’m running cuprisorb in at the moment to get rid of all the copper. I want to start quarantining LPS in here for 30 days (I know 76, but that’s too long so 30 is my compromise if I’m buying from a tank without fish that have signs of ich).

What lighting will be sufficient? I don’t have any at the moment because it was for fish so I just used sunlight through the window. Can I just use a $7 desk lamp from the hardware store? Will that be ok for LPS for a month?

Thanks for your advice

A desk lamp wouldn’t support any coral., you could buy a par38 bulb if you looking for something cheap

Ok thank you
So I guess I’ll go buy one of those “cheap” mini LED bar lights and clip that over the tank.

Thank you!
