Afternoon all. Just updating my build thread today.

The palythoas are looking strange and I’m not sure what’s up. I’ll attach a photo. Hoping for some insight on them

The frammer seems to be recovering from the clowns antics.

My poor Goni. I’m in the process of getting a better light going for the tank, so o hope that will help it out. Otherwise I’m sure someone local can take it, and hopefully save it. I’m not sure how much time it has but direct feedings, while showing some interest, it just isn’t to my liking.

I do have some nice coralline growing, finally! I’m not surprised it took so long, as you all know I didn’t add anything really seed it, and all my rock was dried.

I’d like to try some of the branching GSP, I think it would look pretty nice in there. And once I get the new light I know I can sustain a BYA finally. For now, though this is what we have. Finances are nada at the moment and my next purchase for the tank will be another bottle of the AB+.

I am wanting to work on some really nice fluorescent paintings to trade for corals/ or sell for some. But I’m not sure what to paint. Maybe a clown in a rainbow BTA. Or a pretty wrasse swimming about near some acros. I have no experience with any of those lol. Will see how that goes and update that.

Umbrella effect :). Not a big deal, raising the par number (lighting intensity) will fix them right up

Hope this video loads up… just the view from my couch. Clownfishes doing what clownfishes do. See the female playing in the euphilia lol. She’s a brat.

Just an update on the tank, and life in general.
Tank is doing ok. I was hoping to upgrade the lights but that didn’t work out as planned. So still no chance to get an anemone for the clowns. They are currently rubbing on my frammer, and it’s really not happy. I’ll probably place it in my box away from them. Though I hope the move doesn’t make it mad lol. Otherwise it’s happy where it sits. I’m heartbroken though, I’ve been waiting since Jan. Knowing about this light. Oh well, se la vie

I did finish my painting, and sent it off. I’m working on another oil, with the antuta. Hoping it turns out as planned.

On the fresh side, I had to battle with velvet in my albi tank, and my pallifina female has something going on. I treated with copper for her but it’s not helping. Planned tomorrow is a large waterchange and then in a couple days some general cure dosing. I did happen to get the most lovely pair of koi bettas from a friend. They are in the spawn tank today :). Hoping for a good spawn. So far just the general chasing.

Anyhow, pics!

I have babies! The koi bettas spawned and I couldn’t ask for a better dad. He didn’t want to leave! They were free swimming yesterday. Pulled him today, fed the tank in some vinegar eels and water from the pond, as well as golden pearls/ decapped BBS and even some of the small grindals. Added a lot of live plants and a piece of wood for them to graze through. And for water quality upkeep a mystery snail. I find them invaluable :)

Also, I picked up another male betta, a black orchid. I have had a female and she’s a good looking fish. The males got some growing to do. Lots of faults on his finnage but a nice top line so I can work with the finnage.

My Goni is all but dead now. I’m sad about it but it’s probably my fault. The other two corals are doing fine. The frammer is growing slowly but then plays are growing pretty nicely. I think when I can upgrade the lights they will all be happy. Sadly it just wasn’t in time for the Goni. It pops out better under the blues but if I shut off the whites it’s too dim. (The pic I have is with all the whites on and blues off so it looks a bit odd haha.

Also, my shrimp and goby are jerks. They like to stir the sand lol.

Thank you! Yeah I’m sad about the Goni. I didn’t know they can be fickle. Here it is, you can see some green, but also see it’s not happy. :( I’ve tried to give it to other hobbyists to see if it saved but no one wants it.

Hey! I’ve still not gotten the new light. It wasn’t a contest here, or anywhere. It’s through the company itself but it’s on back order. I’m not sure when it will show up, but I’m hopeful it’ll be eventual lol. Right now, I still only have a few corals (things are pretty rough here currently) and they are doing ok.

I should update this thread today too. So I moved the Goni to the sump. I read somewhere where someone brought a dying one back by putting it under a cup for feeding. I’ve tried to give it away and no one wants it. I’m not sure what else to do for it. Feeding reef Roids under the cup so it can eat if it wants.

Also I added my other light to the sump. I unplugged the whites since it seems the Goni just really liked the blues on.

Yesterday was the unofficial anniversary of this build. It was also my dads birthday. It’s been a very rough year, especially here these past few weeks and I would cherish just sitting in dads room talking with him about how things are.
In his words: “It bees that way sometimes, baby girl.”

Tank is ok, I gave it a hug yesterday lol. It’s shocking the looks family gives when you hug a tank.

I’m in a local group on Facebook and someone was gifted a shell. Well turned out this shell moves lol. They didn’t have a reef, just fresh tanks. So I offered up my place for the “little” guy. He’s half dollar sized hahah. Meet the newest addition to my little slice of heaven. Himbs got hairy legs lol.

I lost my uncle today, dads brother.
We used to sit and watch cartoons while he would craft things. He loved horror movies, and I fondly remember watched Tom and Jerry or Bugs Bunny while I watched him craft a hockey mask from cardboard, plaster of Paris and electrical tape. He painted it with his model car paint.

Then one summer while we were at our local lake, we were told that the story of Jason Voorhese was true. And that it really happened at our local lake Jocassee. Of course us kids didn’t believe it. That is until on the trail back to the car “Jason” came walking out of the woods(complete with machete) and scared us all. It took me a few minutes but I finally recognized that mask lol.

I’ll miss him. But he’s no longer in any pain. Rest well uncle and thank you for all the fun times. I’ll cherish the memories even more now.
