Luna Reef Filter Basket

Sorry, I've been busy lately with car troubles and work and haven't had more than a few minutes in front of the laptop. Chris sent me his file so I'll try to take a look and see how easily I can adjust the dimensions.
No problem, I just wanted to check in. Wasn’t sure if you saw the dimensions. I appreciate it!

Yeah. Unfortunately I was out of town for a week for work stuff and came home with issues with both of my vehicles so it's been a week. 😬

Hi @That Crusso Kid, just checking back.
We did not forget about you. As @tbrown mentioned, he has been sidetracked. I, too, have been busy (and lazy). However, I am working on the unit as I type this message. That said, I will blame Tim for the hold-up.

Tim, if you want to try to make the adjustments then that would be good. I am also adjusting the files. With a little more effort than recently exercised, I should have something pretty soon. Hopefully.

No worries. I really appreciate you all!

I haven't had a chance to mess with Chris's yet but here's what I have.

Two divided baskets. I can take the divider out if you'd preferred two single baskets.

Here is what I came up with for the media caddie.

The olive part is clearly the main body.

The pink lattice patterned part is for the shelves/separators. This slides into the grooves seen in the olive body.

The blue part is the cover. You will see it has a v-groove in it. This slides onto the main body from the top.

I just need to double-check the measurements. I think.

Wow. It looks great. Would there be one or two shelf pieces. I like the idea of 2 so I can put fleece on top, Carbon/GFO in the middle and some biomedia at the bottom.

I think Chris's has slots for 2 shelves. Mine has 2 "drawers".

Chris's would be good as long as you're not running any Bioballs or loose media. Get some mesh bags if you have loose media (ceramic or other).

Either approach is fine for me. I have plenty of media bags 😁

If you look at the front-facing, current design above, you'll see there are slots for three shelves. This will give you the three compartments. If there were two shelves then there would be two compartments. That said, I designed it with 3 but have since changed it to 2. The thinking being that if the bottom of your tank overflow weir is at 6" from the bottom, that top compartment won't be real functional. Plus, with a height of 7.75" and taking the location of the bottom weir into consideration, (leaving roughly 2" of unusable space at the bottom of the caddie) having three compartments will cause them to be less than 2" tall. Hope this makes sense as occasionally I do not explain things clearly.

I could potentially see a third shelf being a half inch or so just to hold a thin layer of PolyFil or some filter floss.
