Macro Reactor??

I came across this video on youtube od a macro reactor, I said ohhh cool but then as I watch the video i noticed some bugs in the macro??? noob here but whats the deal with these bugs? I don't want them in my tank. is macro algae a total must or can I replace it with just rocks so tank is bug free... bugs are at 2:22 of the video.

do you mean copepods or amphipods? people usually try to encourage those , because some fish like to eat those .

99% of the time those guys are reef safe. There are very very rare exceptions .
