I'm looking to do 15g of macroalgae as soon as I can move my mudskippers to another tank. Mostly I look for pictures of your macroalgae tanks to get an idea of whether it would look good or bad.
So, if you have a macroalgae tank, I'd like to see a photo please! :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

I’ve had a few in the past. It is very important to have correct nutrient levels, do to tendencies of Dino blooms.

Ok, thanks for the advice. Hey, is it very difficult to maintain macroalgae tanks? Is a skimmer necessary, or will the macroalgae take its place?

It all depends on your stocking levels. How many fish and inverts you keep. You will have to keep track of nutrient levels for sure and add or remove as needed.
A good product to use its chaeto grow. It is a liquid nutrient product for macro algae.

Whether you need one or not is a point of debate for any reef tank, but macroalgae and skimmers do different things and do not simply replace each other.

Skimmers remove organics, reduce yellowing, and aerate the water

Macroalgae consumes inorganic nutrients, adds oxygen when lit and consumes CO2 when lit

I have red algae i believe its called dragons breath everywhere and i just picked up a piece of blue hypnea. The red grows out of the rocks so its attached. Blue is in a breeder box for now. I love macro algae.

Here's mine that's done pretty well despite no water changes, no skimmer, and dosing chaetogro. Fluval 13.5 with hydra26hd in my garage.
This tank is amazing!! Congratulations on having such an amazing macroalgae tank. :star-struck:

We moved last Thanksgiving, and my wife accidentally turned off the house heater. I had left my tanks at the old house, planning to pick them up a few days later. Unfortunately, the temperature dropped to 54 degrees, the little heater in the tank couldn’t keep up and everything in the tank died. But here’s a look at my old 5 gallon macroalgae tank from last year.

@strich
What is the brown seaweed back left? Kelp?
Very nice.

Consider showing these macro shoots with the backdrop of “girls I have loved”.

Still, very good tank!
