Do I own a male or female Mandarin?

I recently rehomed 2 mandarins and the one in the pictures below has been picked on a little by its male counterpart. They are about 1.5-2inches. I believe I have a female but I just wanted some assistance with this.

Does anyone else have this experience of 2 mandarins fighting? It’s not to the extreme of them locking onto each other but this is more like a nip and slight chase

Any experiences with keeping different species of mandarins together?

do the care if the other is a green spotted and one is a typical mandarin?
Read about people keeping one male and the other female working out! But if you try it please keep us posted! I currently have 2 wild in a 14gal peninsula :)

I think the amount of food available is a big factor. My mandarin just ignores each other until spawn time. Picture of male and female Mandarin Dragonet

Update please.
I think your tank is too small for even one Mandarin Dragonet. This endeavor will not be successful unless you follow @Paul B method of how to be a slave to your Mandarin. ;)
There is nothing wrong with be a slave to such beautiful master, but I think that will be in your future.

You can start to worship by following this bible

Paul B Mandarin feeder
