Yikes, that's sad to see. I just got back from a 2-week vacation and count my self lucky that the only issue was the ato on my nano wasn't running. No losses from it and the clownfish even laid eggs right before I got back.

Man hate to see / hear that! I went on vacation last week and I think my sister overfed my tank... when I got back, I have crazy macro growth in my tank and lost what I've leaned is my warning coral... So I immediately did a large water change & everything seems ok.

It's hard to go on vacation...

Gosh it’s been a while since an update... on a different thread I chronicled tearing this tank down, dipping all the corals in KCl, Iodine, and witches hazel, rinsing the sand, scraping all the algae and palys off the rocks, and performing a 100% water change. It was quite the ordeal, but the tank hasn’t been this healthy in over 440 days! Some pictures I took last night since I was feeling optimistic about the current health of the corals.

Nice! Thats gonna be awesome!

By the way, I bought several frags from you a about a year ago (most didn't make it through a semi crash I had) but the purple orchid is kicking butt! If you want a frag let me know. I'll be in Austin some over the holidays.

Well unfortunately the move to my new house has been quite disastrous. It's been 2 weeks since the move, and my acros are dropping like flies now. I know the water got a little cold on moving day, but I find it odd that they would have a 2 week delay from that. My CaRX was never plugged back in, so alk dropped to 6, but that has never killed corals before in my tank. I've had alk swings that dropped the 5 and didn't lose a thing, so I can't quite explain it now.

So far I've lost my 3 year old oregon tort colony, about the size of a large grapefruit, one of my prized magnificas is giving up on life, and I've lost quite a few frags and smaller colonies that cost a pretty penny. At this point I'm not as excited about the new tank that I'll be installing considering I won't have much to put in it...;Hurting

WOW...didn't know you moved already. Sorry to hear about the losses. But just think about all that new real estate you'll have to add more / new stuff! :)

I was already doubling my real estate with a tank that is over twice as large! Needing more space was not an issue yet

But yes, I get to start from scratch. But the sizes of frags these days, the tank won't look full for years...

Wow very sorry to hear about your losses. But starting over in a new house will be fun. Are you planning to setup your fish room differently from the last one? Keeping an anemone specific tank still?

Some losses are expected in a move. Clearly something significant went wrong here, but it’s not clear what. Maybe moving and stirring up the sand bed, kicking up nutrients, releasing some compound in an anaerobic zone... no clue. It’s sad, but it happens. Just an opportunity to start over with more free space. I’m not sure if I’ll continue the anemone dedicated tank. I would like to put my show anemones in the new DT, but it really depends on the room in the fish room once it’s completed.
