I felt bad for my other fish for not getting any attention, so I grabbed some photos of them too

I broke down and dosed chemiclean. I wanted to wait it out, but nutrients were dropping too quickly with the cyano and my corals and clams were suffering from it. Now to keep GHA from taking its place...

I’ve always been leery to try chemiclean especially with gigs, but you have made me a believer. Looks great. After dosing chemiclean, did you do a pretty massive water change?

I changed 25 gal twice and swapped out my carbon and GFO. Will do another 25 gal change today. My skimmer took a couple days to calm down and ORP was off the charts for a few days. Gigs were fine, they actual seem to prefer dirtier water. In Thailand I saw some in some very turbid water.

I was performing a water change this afternoon and noticed some tiny dots on the glass that didn’t look like the usual dots. I sucked one up and used a magnifying glass to take a closer look. To my pleasure it looks to be a baby cowrie! I have loved adding small cowries to my tank whenever I have had the opportunity and I’ve seen several of them laying and guarding eggs, but never have I seen the eggs hatch successfully. I sucked up a bunch and threw them into my 50 gal that doesn’t have any fish in it. Hopefully they’ll be safe and grow to maturity in there.

I also took some photos of corals while the water level was lower and calm.

Loving your thread! Sweet build! Would love to see some more coral names next to the coral photos. Really digging a couple of the ones listed as unknown. Dis you get them as wild acros?

Thanks for the reminder. Posting photos via mobile post doesn't give me the option, but I went back and edited the post to include names

Thanks! Man, looks like you're already getting some good growth in a short amount of time! Any tip that you think contributes to the growth? Do you target pH at all?

I don’t even monitor the pH of my tank, just the pH of my CaRX. As far as growth goes, I don’t have some secret recipe, just stable parameters and careful equipment planning. Adding a monitor for my alk (Apex Trident) has been the most helpful so far. Anytime my CaRX flow begins to slow I see it immediately vs. when I would test alk periodically and notice the drop or elevation of alk too late.

High random flow, stable parameters, proper lighting, and feeding the fish frequently so there are nutrients available for the corals are key IMO. I change 25 g of water once every week to two weeks.

I’ve been a little bored this afternoon, so I took some photos!

This goniopora from @FarmerTy is stunning! Can't get enough of this thing and it's colors.

My new purple gig on Nem Island has snuggled right in. The clowns are loving the extra real estate and I'm loving the extra color.

This mille has been sitting dormant for years and has finally started growing. So long that I forgot that it even had blue tips!
