I recently visited the local fish stores in the area and found a NUVO Fusion 30L at 10% off. I have already begun the build process for it. I did not get the stand because I would rather build my own and I am not paying $300 for a stand. Also, just found out I am going to be a father!!!

And now on the build....

Started building the stand but stupid drill needed to charge (walmart drill).

Update:

*Tank has been a bit cloudy for the last two weeks. Maybe a bacterial bloom but seems like residue from the dry rock which I didn't let soak long enough.

*Tank seems to have gone into a mini cycle after I removed the old media racks for the 30L Custom Caddy Media rack in which I also changed out the filter pads. Tested 0.2 nitrites(Red Sea) so removed frags from tank to temporary cycled tank(7.5G in first post).

*Bought new frags: Yumas, Zoas, and SPS(rainbow monti, strawberry shortcake, and Exquisita sp).

Looks great!
Enjoyed your update! :)
How much did you get your ricordia FL if I may ask?
Going to see if I can collect some for my tank. I know it's hard to find but I'll be on a hunt

Thanks! Those are Ricordea yuma. The highest was $50. Yes, nice ones are hard to find but you just have to search and have your LFS to contact you when nice ones come in.

Either way they are nice!
I meant hunt as in collect in the wild. Lol
But yes they are hard to find at LFS either way. Most are now imported from the Caribbean, is what I've been told.

You are so lucky to be able to hunt in the keys for corals. Yeah its probably from Caribbean or Indonesia.

no doubt about the lucky to hunt in the keys. heck, lucky to be in living in the Keyes for that matter lol - I still have never visited but have heard nothing but awesome things about the florida keys.

To the op, tank looks great and congratulations on being a father to be!

Yea just have to make sure to be very cautious and double triple check everything. I know my laws very well but better safe than sorry. Right now the keys are low in ricordia fl but I know the Caribbean has more. I'm going on a cruise through the Caribbean and might do some snorkeling so I'll let you guys know lol

Thanks, I love it down here. Wouldn't change it. Definitely different specie populations have risen over the years so things have got better for the reefs.

I agree the ops Pics are great

I heard about the strict laws. I guess I will have to familiarize myself with them and take a trip to florida to do a little snorkeling in the future. Thanks! Here are some better images including some of the zoas I have:

Definitely. There's rumors that it's been affecting hobbyist as well. But it's still unclear. You are not too far, normally the laws anywhere except the keys is not too strict lol. If you don't come to the keys I recommend sticking to the east coast of FL. The West Coast Tends to be a lot more turbid (murky).

Wow those pics are great !!
What camera are you using? I imagine DSLR. Manual settings?

Ok I will definitely try the east coast when I take my trip. Thanks! I am using a Nikon d3300. A gift from my wife. It's not the camera I wanted but I am starting to enjoy it. Yep, I used manual settings.
