Hello all,

Im new to this forum and english is not my native language zo bare with me

I have a question and was hoping someone on the forum is willing to help me.

I have a 8month old tank with a bunch of sps. I was not really happy with my old lighting system so I switched to the maxspect rsx 200w version for my 90g tank. I'm comming from a hybrid system.

Now a bunch of sps started to stn and rtn on me.

Consumption has come to a standstill.

I really dont know how to run these lights. At what intensity? Spectrum etc etc.

At the moment im running 75% on all channels. This gives me about 300par at the top of my rockwork.

I want to stop tinckering with the lights as it only adds more stress. But I also want my corals to recover.

At the moment some corals open up. To close again a few hours later. They just look they are barely hanging on. Some just die....

My parameters are fine.

Kh 8,5
Mag 1350
Cal 430
Phos 0,04 (dosing to keep it there)
Nitrate 5

hang in there Dave. The experts will be along to help you soon.

If your corals are that unhappy and dying, I'd start by turning the lights well down... maybe 25-30% until you can get some good guidance.

It may be that you started off with too much too quick of a different spectrum. On my 40 breeder which is much shorter than your 90 I’m running my R5-150 at:

At the top of my rocks I’m only hitting about 250par and my SPS seem to like it. I believe @mta_morrow runs the same setup as you.

If I run it at 100% I get about 600 to 700 par at top. Higher up in % the par increases quickly. Measured with an apogee

My tank is 100*60*50=300 liters and a 50 liter sump.

But even at 75% it seems really dark to me. Not near as bright as the previous settup. And that was hitting arround 350 par at top.

My purple stylo sometimes really expands its polyps searching for light.

I will post my settings when I get home tonight.

I am pretty close to @AdamNC settings.

I’m just a bit less blue and more white because 1-that’s what I like to look at and 2-my H Magnifica prefers whiter vs bluer.

I will post my settings tonight

Do you have a FTS?

Firstly, nice tank! I’m not believing those par readings though. I don’t think these light are capable of that.

At settings nearly identical to @AdamNC, I’m right at 300 par at the Magnifica Nem.

Using the Seneye to measure.

Wow! I will re measure this weekend. I wasn’t calling you a liar! I figured a bad reading or perhaps calibration.

Anyway, I will post my settings later on and I will take some new PAR and spectrum measurements this weekend.

Well growth has taken off.

A: 85%
B:100%
C:95%
D:70%

Are you guys using the standart legs?

Have tou checked your par reading again?

Im thinking of adding another one. Just for the spread. Dont like how your looking at the dark side of the coral whe you view the tank from the front.
