This is the key.Listening to the "talking points" on tv does not cut it.If you listen to the responses after a speach, 10 people will have the same response word for word in some cases. These are the points they want you to focus on,and they repeat them over and over, right or wrong, for the sheep to remember.

Remember ,how much can the president actually do alone, without the approval of congress anyway??

Is the economy in bad shape?Hell yes !Did Bush cause it?I don,t think he talked these banks into loaning people money to buy houses they could not afford ,nor does he control the prices of anything......People,don't forget,we the people have more control than we think,by our votes and by our buying or not buying practices.

But do we really have that much of a say in things? I've lost some of my faith in the election process after the electoral college and the Bush/Gore presidential race. That doesn't mean I won't be casting my vote in November but I'm just sceptical about the whole process now.

I know what you mean, but in races other than" the big one"I feel like our votes count more,so we can boot out some of the career politicians(maybe)

rbvab is correct if we dont use are power in the smaller elections we can never change anything. chage in our system must come from the bottom. so be carefull who you elect and dont forget what our founding fathers said. the people should not fear thier goverment, the government should fear the people.

rdvab, on the money. All our President is, is a figure head. Congress votes on everything, he might be able to veto if he wants. But cant do what everyone seems to think he can without the approval of Congress.
NY times, you might as well read the National Enquirer.

wow reef goddess has discoverd a truth older than democracy itself if you give people power they will abuse it. this has happend in every culture and every time. just one example look at the catholic church during the middle ages. give us money or go to hell. if you dont like what has happend write your congressman or next time they come up for election vote for someone else. but quit blaming every problem on the president.

I said the administration. I don't blame that much on the president, he's a total burnout not capable of higher thought, much less coherent speeches. I'm talking about lots of other people that makeup our corrupt administration; cheney, rove, etc, etc. Hey, I didn't vote for them so I think I have a right to **** *about them and shed some truth on the matter.
I'm not the one that chooses to live in the dark and believe whatever is fed to me until the world ends and we will all get saved. lol

Good night the lil' firestarter is going to bed............. bwahahaha

Seriously I respect you all and want you to be able to talk on these subjects, but don't get personal and call anyone names or talk down about them especially our president. You may not like him but you should at least respect the office. I do not care for Obama, but if he wins the presidency I will support him as the president in the fact that I will not talk down about him ever.

Also if you want to blame the downfall of the economy and the stock market then blame congress they are the ones with the power and the Democratic majority was the ones who were to bring about change when they took over the majority.

You are right to think how you want but the administration is backed by many more than Bush Cheney Rove etc. when the votes are taken it is by congress that makes the decisions, and who controls that???Oh yeah the news media:rolleyes:

I don't see how you get any good news reports without adding the important sources anyway ,ie,Jay Leno,"The View",Rush......

Obama, McCain, Palin, Biden, white, black, man, women, republican, democrat, conservative, liberal…. When are we going to stop bickering, name calling, finger pointing, and mud slinging and start fixing the real problems in this country? I am mad and I’m not going to take it anymore. Just not sure what I’m going to do about it :(

I normally keep my political views to myself until election day but is anyone else ticked off by the FED reaching into our pockets to bailout the failing investment banks?
It seems almost everyday there is another bailout or crisis.

I may be wrong, please enlighten me, but how can our government reward the risk takers who underwrite these risky loans by taking our money?
By some estimates, our national debt has doubled because of this mess. In reality, no one knows how much we have commited already and there is no end in sight.
Perhaps without the bailouts our financial system would collapse but I fear they are only making it worse in the long run.

The news is just so depressing lately. Our children are going to pay for our mistakes for years to come.

Everyone please push aside the media’s latest tag lines and sensationalism and research the issues and where the candidates stand on the issues. Our next president and congress will have our future in their hands.

I'm always amused by the protest vote factor: Perot in 92 tipped the scales to Clinton and maybe to a much lesser degree Nader helped Bush over Gore in 2000.

You are not wrong Jack....any other business that made such terrible decisions, would NOT be bailed out by govt. money, and the CEO's given several millon to step down.I do think they had to step in on these 3 majors to slow down a collapse in our economic system, but I don't tyhink it will stop it,just delay. After all they are just dillutung what money value we have with every billoin they print up to save these folks. And now they control 79% of one of the largest insurers, but wait that is what some want ,for the Govt to control our entire lives including health care....

I'm sorry Rev, I didn't vote for him and I personally have zero respect for him. Just because he conned his way into the presidency doesn't mean that he is fit to be president. Anyway, we all know its Cheney and Rove that are the real power behind the throne. And I didn't engage in name-calling. I said he is a burnout which is an adjective not an official name, well the last I heard at least. ;p

Congress alone didn't get us into this mess. Us invading Iraq and spending $3 trillion dollars to rebuild, etc. Do you honestly think that that has no effect on our economy and the situation of things? But I guess invading Iraq was only congress' idea and had nothing to do with our oh so innocent president/regime.

If you're so concerned about the gov't controlling every aspect of our lives then you ought to read the Patriot Act and see who was responsible for that.
The USA PATRIOT Act, commonly known as the Patriot Act, is a controversial Act of Congress that U.S. President George W. Bush signed into law on October 26, 2001.

Seriously Reef Goddess we could go on and on back and forth on this and I wouldn't buy what you say and you wouldn't buy what I say. So I will just leave it at that and not respond anymore. I still like you anyway.. :D

I will say that I am not going to let anyone disrespect Bush, Obama, or anyone anymore here since I do own the site and what takes place here is kinda my responsibility. Democrat or Republican please keep to the supposed facts or real facts and away from the adjectives. :D

DealyO? :D

Thanks for understanding.

"signed into law" there must have been others that supported it for it to presented to the president, must have been Cheney and Rove that wrote the law.And no one did this alone ...not the Pres. not any one congress person ,not even "Teddy " could have made this mess by himself:biggrin:

And it did not happen just in the last 8 or even 12 years this living ,on credit fiasco has been building for a long time ,including the U.S. Govt .A big zit finally going to pop, who gets the least of it on them is the winner;)

No prob Rev, I'll try not to poke fun at your dippy pres. Joking.....

I realize you and others are diehards and I won't change your opinion, but I don't think everyone is that way. That's why I post factual articles on here from several sources because the whole media can't be faulted as being liberal, tree huggers can they? I have nothing against listening to both sides of the story and I think both parties have substantial room for improvement, however I can't sit around while some people want to pretend that their poo doesn't stink and that some people in office are capable of no wrong. To promote this idea is wrong and must be changed.

No Bush wasn't alone in creating that law, there was also a republican congress at that time. ;p

The credit issue really is a problem with our economy being capitalist to the max. With people spending beyond their means and banks lending to anyone. Then you have con artist mortgage companies, lenders, home inspectors, etc, etc. Hopefully some good legislation will come out of this in the long run.

It is always better to have no ideas than false ones; to believe nothing, than to believe what is wrong..
Thomas Jefferson

To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.
Thomas Jefferson

Two very good quotes, now if we can decide which party wants to subsidize more Dem@#$%$ I mean govt programs with our taxes.
