So I’m adding my last fish to my tank as I know I have limited space. Choosing between McCoskers wrasse vs Flame angel.
I’ve always liked the flame angle but worries about it picking at my corals. I also like the McCoskers wrasse but worried it might eat all the pods in my tank leaving less for my mandarin. But I read that they really only eat from the water column??

Which one would you pick??

Flasher wrasses need 4’+ tanks to really stretch their fins IMHO. Yes you are correct, these wrasses don’t eat off the rocks and prefer phyto/mysis/brine from the water column.
Any angelfish is a hit or miss in a reef, go for a deeper water species and you’ll probably find they’ll be a better shot at reef safe.

If you’re after the red and have a 3’ tank then go for a Cirrhilabrus species, they will always become male so best to look at the males and then try to ID them from females seen in the LFS.
