Do you think there is a need for a media reactor for a mixed reef 230G tank ??
If so what is a good one to buy?

Thank you for the feedback!I have always, and always will use carbon in a reactor. They are also good for other medias, like GFO if the need arises.
Their all pretty much the same, BRS makes some decent ones and in a jumbo size for larger tanks.
I am putting together my build and was wondering what would be a good next piece to focus on and i think the media reactor would be. Can i run that with filter socks too ???@Bulk Reef Supply did a video a loooong time ago(one of their first videos) about the effectiveness of carbon in a reactor Vs. passively in a bag in the sump. The difference made a believer out out me, and have run it in a reactor ever since.
i noticed that, thought maybe i was missing something cause most devices this big isnt cheap, comparatively to a calcium reactor of the same size or a skimmerI would say the benefit outweighs the cost. These media reactors are relatively cheap compared to most equipment.
and lucky for me i built a 3 port manifold into the return plumbingMost certainly.
Most people run it either on a manifold off the return pump, or like me use another small pump in the sump.
well the irony is a buddy of mine (engineer) made me a couple reactors many years ago. I am not sure if they work or not but i will take some pictures and post on here and see what folks thinkMedia reactors are fairly cheap compared to other pieces of equipment. In reality just look at an add on canister of an RO/DI system, pretty much the same thing, and they are relatively cheap also. Not much to them other then some plastic. lol
I recommend a reactor at least for carbon. My Nyos can be used for two different types of media.I have always, and always will use carbon in a reactor. They are also good for other medias, like GFO if the need arises.

I think i will start out with carbon and change media if i get a spike somewhere else. Can you run all the media at the same time?I recommend a reactor at least for carbon. My Nyos can be used for two different types of media.
I don’t see why not. I do know you can run carbon and GFO in the same reactor. Just can’t tumble it or the carbon will grind to dustI think i will start out with carbon and change media if i get a spike somewhere else. Can you run all the media at the same time?
Yes with the Nyos reactor. Currently I just run carbon as my tank is only 3 months old.I think i will start out with carbon and change media if i get a spike somewhere else. Can you run all the media at the same time?
