Megabite's 180 Reef - Round 2

If possible i like the keeping it contained in sump and moving rocks w aips to him, but that's not always possible
For me to do that, I'd have to make the tank the sump and the sump the tank. 😜

I have a few rocks I can do that with but couldn't with the majority.

LOL! Second basket in.

Thanks for dropping by @danieyella. Took a quick look at your tank thread and saw you have/ had a Stripey. Did or has it ever messed with your LPS? Very nice tank by the way. Need to start going there.

Scott ( @skey44 ) sent this to me as well yesterday. I thinks it’s a sign, so I picked up a file fish today to see how it goes. If it doesn’t work out, I will blame it on Frank! 🤗

If the peppermint shrimp I bought over the last week don't take care of the aptasia in my frag system in the next few weeks. I will probably try a file fish too!

I think my peppermint shrimp hide from the aiptasia. They've never done anything for me. 😢

Same. I had some in my cube tank and they were just freeloaders

Yep, this is where my last of 5 always is. And there's no aiptasia WAY UP there!

The common scientific name for our peppermint shrimp must be Lysmata wurdemanni parasitus. 🤔

That’s my concern. I’m starting to have an aiptasia issue and haven’t had luck with a CB. My tang gang and especially the Sailfin below isn’t having it. Constant chase. Was considering a Stripey for control.

Molly Miller might be another option...?

Thanks! That's what I think I'm going to try first. I can pick one up locally for $60 which isn't too bad.

This is the one at my LFS. Is this the right one?

Yes. Petco has the captive bred for $40 frequently out here in AZ. I had one for a year or so. Eliminated all my Aiptasia then started pecking at a Micromussa. Never hurt it, just pecked around underneath the flesh and irritated it so it stayed mostly closed. Soon after the Filefish was rehomed the Micro opened back up.

Problem with the Filefish: my Aiptasia problem came back after the fish was rehomed. Berghia and Pepper shrimp seems to do a better job of actually eradicating rather than just keeping them at bay?

My shrimp did nothing and I’m afraid that my wrasse will eat the Berghia. And they’re pricey for the amount I may need in the 180. Never heard of the Molly Miller. I may need to get one.

In any case, the file fish is in the tank! I will snap a couple of pics.

That's a cool fish! Hopefully it takes care of your aiptasia problem. I just added an Orange Back Fairy Wrasse yesterday, I'm trying to get my melanurus wrasse to stop chasing him.

My Yellow Wrasse was no problem with Berghia but your six-line likely would be.
