Metal halide SPS growth rate

Thanks guys.

Growth has been fun, and very different from the past. In my 2 previous tanks my growth was painfully slow. PAINFULLY. Yes new system. Yes lots of gear. But, it’s actually pretty simple set up, just a ton of crap. I went ape poop with lighting and even more so with flow. Most people think my lighting is way over the top (T5s, 8 XR30s and 4 Halides) but I really feel that my flow is way more intense than my lighting. I’m slowly starting to remove sand. Doing so is going to expose some closed loop plumbing for one of my loops, but sand + yellow jaw = seized L2.

Here are some pictures from late Feb early march and again similar shots this AM:

Try searching for Odyssea MH & T5 fixtures that delivers to you. Lots of different sizes available
I own several of these fixtures, and while they aren’t state of the art, they get the job done. I would just caution anybody using these to change the ballast to something more reputable.

Unfortunately, I’m not seeing these available on eBay like I used to. Not sure if the brand has been discontinued…

Apparently they now have improved ballast so hopefully mine will last. They’re still in production and available in all sorts of sizes

do I just need one MH setup for 36in x 24in tank? It’ll be about 14in from surface.

1 Mh over a 36" is stretching it but will work with lower level corals placed at the edges.
I am setting up a 36×36×19 with 1 400 watt mh with 2 Meridian edge bars.
From testing it should cover the area well and the 2 edge bars will help blend the 10k look from the 400.
Reefbrite pendants are small and efficient. I tried several others and the RB gave the best spread.
You could do something similar on your system.
This should work well. Just waiting on the new system to arrive.

I want to keep my aquatic life t5 hybrid fixture as well. I was just thinking if it's possible to just need one MH. You got a beautiful design right there. Thanks!

Yea go with one then. The t5's will fill any low par areas nicely.
