Metasorb removes an array of different heavy metal (Aluminum, Cadmium, Cerium, Cobalt, Copper, Dysprosium, Erbium, Europium, Gadolinium, Gold, Holmium, Iron, Lanthanum, Lead, Lutetium, Manganese, Mercury, Neodymium, Nickel, Samarium, Scandium, Selenium, Silver, Terbium, Ytterbium, Yttrium, Zinc) while cuprisorb is mainly designed to remove copper but it can remove nickel, zinc, cobalt, cadmium, manganese too.
I like polyfilter tbh inexpensive and know rather quickly if it is working. Chromium has an oxidation state similar to iron. Not a chemist but i would assume anything that removes iron would remove chromium.
Cool thanks. I have some polyfilter but I was under the impression it didnt work as well as the others.
I really can not say as those are list from manufactures website..Thanks, do either remove chromium?
How much do you use and how often?I have not used the others to compare so i honestly cant say which is more effective. I had used polyfilter when a neodymium magnet casing failed in my tank and started ti corrode. It removed enough that no heavy metals appear out of norm on any icp tests i have sent in since.

I've had a magnet closet light with 2 batterys drop into my tank for who knows how long - about 2 years ago. On top of that had some neodymium magnets corrode. Although I do use poly pads periodically, metasorb according to my icp worked perfect to its standard. Did not see a color change, but all metals I had were depleted by my next icp result (just 5 days later). Its literally a teaspoon of white polymers in a small pouch for upwards 40 bucks. But it does effectively work.I have not used the others to compare so i honestly cant say which is more effective. Thanks. I dont think carbon removes metals does it?It is not something i run regularly i keep a pad on hand if needed.
I went through 2 packages removing the metals.
* Caveat I did also at times run carbon probably also contributed to removal from the the water.
Thanks bud, sounds like a good plan.I've had a magnet closet light with 2 batterys drop into my tank for who knows how long - about 2 years ago. On top of that had some neodymium magnets corrode. If you have metal issues, I would use the metasorb, if your continuing to have issues without a known source, I would use a poly pad every now and then.

I have never used them personally but if we go by the very little details provided on the website then metasorb should work better than cuprisorb.Anirban,
Which works better for tin? Im using 300mg of cuprisorb to reduce 16mcg/l of tin in my 180g.

Hi Randy,I'm not sure what numbers you are comparing, but the data to make an actual comparison of what each will accomplish in a reef tank is almost certainly not available.
Hi Randy,
I am not comparing any data or numbers as you said its not available. I am just quoting the product details from manufactures website. I mentioned that in post 2 and 7.
