Micromussa lord + LEDs

So when I first started in this hobby many years ago, LEDs just entered the market (I remember that the DIY LED system was all the rage back then) and the general consensus was that the colors for micros wasn't as nice compared to T5s (I remember people complained that their "rainbows" morphed into the generic red/orange coloration under LEDs).

Now that time has passed, it looks like LEDs made some significant improvements- so much so that many hobbyist and LFS has made the switch to LEDs; a recent trip to the LFS showed off a bunch of pretty micro lords under LEDs (XR30 Gen 4).

So it made me wonder... is it still possible to keep colorful micros under LEDs that doesn't make them morph/change coloration?

No doubt its possible to keep them with LEDs. Recently a lot of people relate changing colors to how much light the coral gets as opposed to the spectrum. Lower light for better rainbow colors in Lords, higher light and they start to lose the rainbow. I'm not sure if this is the case for all but it's what I've heard recently. With any LEDs you have to be careful of how much light they put off as it can be deceiving. I'd make sure to use a PAR meter if I did LEDs.

Thanks for your reply! I forgot LEDs put out more light than T5s; I guess it's better to get an LED fixture that is dimmable along with a PAR meter.
