Welcome to Reef2Reef!!

Mine tend to fight a bit but it's not bad enough to result in injuries. Just for the female to make sure she is still the boss. If they are really beating each other up they may not pair.

Just curious if both fish were mocha's. I had a mocha and a snowflake and the mocha was very aggressive towards the snowflake. They were similar in size but the snowflake wouldn't sumbit to the mocha. I eventually I found the snowflake dead. I waited a month and added another smaller mocha and the two eventually paired.

Also, moving around the rocks a bit can tone down the aggression.

Good luck

Welcome to R2R. I agree, try to separate them for a bit and then reintroduce them. Maybe change up the rockwork when put them back together.
