Hi,

I bought a montipora from my LFS and it was at the bottom of my tank for a month. A few weeks ago I changed it to the middle-top portion of my rocks where the is more light intensity and the flow is stronger. Now it doesn't seem happy...

I've just turned off the flow and I'm waiting for the rest of the day to check if it will improve. Should I move it back to the bottom of the tank? Any ideas that I could try to figure out what's wrong? Is it dying? All the other corals are happy.

This is a photo right after putting the coral on the new place (left side) and how the coral is right now (right side).

Water parameters:
- Sal: 1025
- Alk: 8.5
- Ca: 440
- Mg: 1400
- Nit :5
- Phosp: 0.1

Thanks!

If I ever move a coral when it was "happy" and it becomes unhappy, move it back. I have cooked a few over the last year or so, so consider light intensity as a culprit, and of course, look for pests and other possible irritants near by that could be the cause as well. If it's happy when you move it back, you know the answer

Happy Thanksgiving

I'm not sure if its rtn or a lighting issue.

Cloves likes lower light lower flow, sps like high light high flow, but they are in the same spot so its a challenge for them both to be happy.

If you move the coral, it starts re-acclimating to the new spot, it can weeks or even months for them to acclimate.

We all have different opinions of what is "high light" or "low light", knowing the par value takes the opinion away and gives you a number to work with.

There doesn't seem to be much left of the coral, I would try to find a healthy section and frag it. I don't think it will recover. Good luck
