What would be some of the most common pitfalls for a new SPS keeper to avoid? I have really strecthed my budget to get the tank ready and I am trying to be patient waiting until my tank is stable to add my sps but the one green slimer ( Canary ) I have seems to be stressed and paling.

Alk swings prob the main issue IMO as long as your water quality is solid.

I need to work on the nutrient export; I misunderstood the whole concept of keeping sps and was trying to create a near sterile evironment. I have been told to add a refugium to maintain a more healthy and stable environment.

I think at least a 50x turn over by your pump is necessary for SPS.
