Mouth Rot Symptoms?

What are some symptoms of mouth rot that either you personally have experienced or know can happen? I have a clowfish that I believe to be suffering from rot but it seems to be some issues barely mentioned if at all in diagnosis articles.

Can you describe what you are seeing on the fish's mouth. Does the area look cottony/fibrous and is there any reddening in the area?

I don't see any hanging skin but his mouth is turning a brown color around the lips and he's having a little trouble eating. He also seems to be inflamed on his left gill.

Based on your description, your fish has a bacterial infection. The primary treatment is to treat in a QT with Maracyn (aka Erythromycin) for 10-14 days. Note that Erythromycin is very harsh on your biofilter. So be prepared.
Hopefully the infection has not spread to the internal organs which will require a wide spectrum antibiotic treatment. If so the "trifecta" of Kanaplex + Furan2 + Metro is recommended.

How contagious is it to other fish?

Bacterial infections can be transmitted from fish to fish, usually during direct contact. Otherwise the other fish's immune systems prevent their infection. Bacterial infections are usually secondary in nature. They are the result of some other action: injury, illness, stress, etc.
