Moving anemone

I just added a new BTA into my Red Sea 350 and it stayed put for the first few days and would only move at night so I would turn my main power head off just to make sure it didn’t turn into soup. Today ever since the lights have turned on it’s been walking on top of a rock but not letting go so my question is should I still turn the pump off to be safe when I’m not home to keep an eye on it?

No put a guard on the pump. The nem is looking for a perfect spot. With thr pumps on off its not finding its happy spot.

Every time you turn a powerhead on/off you change the conditions of the tank. It may not move for 3 months and you might come home to it stuck in a powerhead.. cover the powerheads or live dangerously..... I wouldn’t waste my time turning them on/off

Im getting 2 new power heads in 5 days so I guess I’m living dangerously till then (fingers crossed).

What kind of power head do you have now? Most can be covered with a simple diy cover made from the below. Typically you can fasten with small zip ties or even fishing line. It can even be cut into a triangle for pumps with a more cone shape.

It is like a thin plastic mesh used for cross stitch. All fabric stores, Walmart, and most hobby stores
(Hobby lobby and Michael’s) have it.

Like a rectangle box looking thing? If so, 5 bucks and 5 minutes and you have a nem guard.

Just anything you have to keep the anemone to get to the intake side of the PH will do. May not look too good, but once it settle, then it is much easier.
I agree with everybody above, best not to change the condition of the tank, because if you do this, the anemone will be forever moving.

Once you get your new heads and position them, the anemone will move.
If you adjust them after that... the anemone will move.
The anemone is the boss... screw with what he likes and he'll move.

Best not to fight the inevitable.

The plastic canvas for yarn stitching crafts works fine, but it's fine enough that it does like to collect/grow finer debris and algae. However, its easier to clean than a powerhead.
