Moving sump

Trying to set up my First tank , tank is in basement can i move sump and equipment to garage ( plumbing will have to pipe up and across open ceiling to garage)

Possibly, however I fear it will be difficult. If the tank is in the basement and the pipes have to run through the ceiling I assume the sump will be at or above the level of the tank (in a different room obviously but relatively above or at the level of the tank)? If the sump is above you can use gravity to drain it back to the tank, though will want a gate valve to dial in flow and avoid splashing/bubbles in your display. If they are at the same level, I can't think of a great way to get water to and from the sump at equal rates. . . I know people do remote sumps, however, so again I am sure it is possible (hopefully some of those folks can chime in). Also, and you may already be aware of this, but you will want to ensure your garage is climate controlled.

While you can, I always saw risks such as temperature changes, fumes from exhaust and potential for debris to fall into it

Ya i didn’t explain that very well , the garage is also in the basement so the sump will be lower than the tank in the end , just getting the water back and forth
