Yea!!! My son and his friends carried my 120 gallon tank into the basement today, along with the stand. It is an Oceanic reef ready glass tank. I have placed and leveled the tank and am now working on the plumbing today. I am making my own standpipes.... I am torn between the Durso and the Hoefer Gurgle Buster. I know what Dursos are like, I use them on my 65 gallon tank...but the Hoefer Gurgle Busters are supposed to be even quieter. I may try both while running the tank with fresh water to check for leaks and then see which I like better. It's only about $10 in parts to try.
I have a 36" sump...it has 3 compartments sump / main pump return / fuge. The sump area will have a filter sock holder and live rock as a filter. It will also hold my Euro-reef skimmer.
The main pump return has only enough room for a return pump. The returns are already drilled for the bulkhead which holds 3/4" gray PVC. I will split the flow with a Y hose barb so not to slow the flow too unreasonabley with a T.
The refugium will hold the transfer of my current fuge...I have a 4 inch sand bed but I have 3 large cucumbers in there that keep it well stirred and fresh. It has a mixed based of algae including Chaeto, Razor, Grape and other macroalgaes...plus a huge amount of rock rubble...golf ball to tennis ball sized pieces.
It will be lighted by a Current USA fixture, 6 x 54 watt T5 bulbs with individual reflectors. If needed I have a couple of 250 watt MH Sunlight Supply Reef Optix III pendants. I will buy a dual ballast if I end up needing more light than the T5's supply.
Saturday I am picking up 3 - 5 gallon buckets of sand / crushed coral. I do not want too deep of a sand bed...just enough for looks and to keep my wrasses and gobies happy. There will be 4 - 1200 modded Maxijets on Algae Grip Magnets and a Red Sea wave timer for flow.
Of course if I win a Tunze wavebox from a raffle I'm entered in that would be a great addition to the tank.
