My kalk container is complete and over the last few days I have cut back on all for reef and have started dosing kalk. I've run 1,100ml for 3 days and got my night time lows up to about 7.96 and my days up to about 8.16

It got a dose at 5pm and 6pm today and hit 8.18

Not quite enough and I have plenty of evaporation head space.

I increased my kalk this afternoon and cut back my all for reef again. I'm up to 2,100ml with a 100ml dose every hour starting at 10pm through the night and day till 6pm. I'll probably make it an around the clock thing with some heavier doses at night eventually, but I will probably buy a continuous duty doser for that and didnt want to invest till I decided if I liked kalk.

I think I do.

I'll pick up some magnesium tomorrow and start testing that weekly. Idk what I want to do about trace elements though. Right now i'm at 50% of my old All for reef dose, so if I stay here that may cover trace elements? Idk. Need to do more digging and i'm currently accepting input on how to handle that as well lol.

On a side note, my acros seem kinda fuzzier. I'm like 80% sure i'm seeing polyps that weren't there a few days ago.

Also I should note I got 2 nicrew hyperreef 200 Gen 2 and I like them a lot. I am up to a peak of 55% blues and uv with a bit of white, and a touch of red and green and my alk consumption has started to climb. I also have a set of brackets for my t5 fixture coming which will narrow the fixture up and get more light off my walls and into the tank. Black is sold out everywhere so I ordered white. We'll see how dumb it looks. I might build a floating canopy to hide it as much as possible without interfering with tank maintenance

I am thinking of getting 2 Nicrew 200s as well for my 4 foot tank. Are they noisy at all? Also do you know how much par they output at your settings?

I like them a lot. I got the controller and definitely worth the $50. Im not sure as to par as I dont have a meter. Might change eventually but im not sure.

They are dead silent so far. I had viparspectra and when those shut off my wife would make comments like "its pleasantly quiet when you tank shuts off"

Seems like they definitely can grow acros though. I will 100% get the controller. Leaning that way for sure.

100% can grow acros! I'm hoping the ph fix dosing kalk really wakes things up, but my 2 viparspectra were at 80% and at 45% power on my nicrews my alk started climbing and my yellow tip started growing for sure. Definitely my happiest acro so far.

Yeah I have PH issues as well but its from just too much Co2 in my Condo. I just need to open the sliding glass doors more often. Problem is in Florida summers that's not an option. I was looking into getting an ESV or possibly a continuous bathroom fan so I can have more fresh air. My Co2 Levels are too high for even a person lol.

Yea, I vented my skimmer outside and it didnt do much, and idk what convinced me to make the leap, but I decided to try kalk and so far, i'm loving the change. I 100% have polyps out on acros that I never saw polyps on before. I only started dosing kalk on sat or sunday

If you have a skimmer you could try venting it outside if you havent yet? My sump in the basement so it didnt make a bit of difference really

I thought about that but I live in a Condo on the first floor so if they spray something it could be very bad. There is also a lot of bugs in Florida so I would be worried about bugs, chemicals, & also getting approval to drill a whole in the wall (lol) Its concrete block too so it would be a thick whole.

Yea thats a very good point lol. I suppose thats not terribly feasible then.

32g Brute trash can my good sir! I drilled a hole, put the line into a goby of water weld, and then a glob on the bottom of the tube to weight it down but hold it a couple inches off bottom. I hope that when the cubes old and needs replacement the smooth surface of the lid will allow me to simply pop the god holding the line to the lid off.

No, hanna checker currently. I would like the iv though haha
