I wonder if this would work? I have a LOT of turbulence down there. I almost wonder if CO2 would enter through the massive turbulence just as fast as my skimmer xan add fresh oxygen. The external ventilation from my skimmer didnt make any real difference.

Might want to get with someone else as to whether it works . This might be Tim’s area .
I bought one of those scrubbers, a bag of media, and a recirculation lid for my reef octopus. Gonna give it a good and see how it works! I just hope it doesnt go through too much media and start costing an arm and a leg!

Tonight was a rough night, got a punch in the gut as I noticed a few of the acros I bought in July havent really grown at all... 😖 I didnt realize it'd been that long. Since I got them I have upgraded my two viparspectra for the 2 nicrew hyperreef 200's and have now started addressing my ph. I really think this ph is the issue. I have a ORA Joe the coral that jas never had any polyps visible and since I upped my ph I have noticed many more. Some of my others have also gotten a touch more fuzzy. So we'll see. I have a few with really good encrusting, but nobranch growth yet...

I did not. I had been hemming and hawing already and then I did a bunch of research today and saw BRS co2 media was on sale so I said screw it. I'll try it. I had some rewards points so all in it cost less than $80 so not a big loss worst case

Sorry to hear that but the good thing is there not DOA . Get the ph up and see if that doesn’t get them moving

Yea my alks around 8, but im bringing it back up to 8.5(slowly swapped some AFR out for kalkwasser) I didnt check calcium or magnesium though as they've always held steady in the safe ranges. Last i checked nitrates were 13ppm, phosphates at .12ppm. I'll do a full round of tests again tomorrow as i've changed my dosing regiment now.

I haven't had a chance to test it yet, but I'm thinking Portland Cement would work as the media as long as it is kept dry. The lime should absorb the CO2 and strip it this allowing your pH to rise.

Again, I haven't tested it yet but I have plans to do so. I was going to try it inline on an air pump. Run the pump for a week with constant pH monitoring, then add the "scrubber" and monitor for another week and see what, if any, changes occur.

Regular co2 absorption media(which uses lime as well i believe?) to my knowledge works best in a humid but not wet environment. I wonder if it will work as well kept dry? I'd definitely be interested in the results of this endeavor though! The only reason I didnt start with a co2 scrubber was because I didnt want another monthly subscription 😅

That's why I was looking at Portland Cement - its high lime content.

The humid environment would cause clumping/hardening/concreting...

Again, just something that crossed my mind a while back and I even built a miniature "reactor" for it.

Would definitely be cool if it worked! Keep us posted! Would definitely be cheap if it worked and didnt require crazy amounts of it!

Even if it requires a decent amount, $5 for a 25 pound bag or something like that. Take a pound or 2 (or even 5) and you still saved around $30...

For sure! I wonder if it wouldnt require a weekly or twice weekly shake to keep the proper powder exposure? Might be worth a try if it doesnt seem to be performing well at first

Yep. I need to get another Hydros Controller with pH or just a wifi pH monitor to test this but neither are cheap.

I've got an idea to keep it tumbling/suspended that will require 2 check valves.

Very interested to see this. I assume this takes into consideration dust issues
