This tank is going on just over a year and is only my second salt water tank. I set it up in Mar '09 and transferred some of the stuff from my first tank that had been running for almost 2 yrs.

I purchased this tank from a local tank maint. guy that cleans the reef tank at my work in Jan '09. Took me two months of brainstormin' before I put water in it. The 30g and stand/hood came with a sump, CSS65, overflow, return, orbit 150w MH 2x 96w PC. With the help of reef forums I fashioned some sweet DIY's that I am really pleased with. I hacked at the extra CSS65 I now had, popped on some uniseals, turned the pump around, and put a feed line into the side. Now its a recirc and actually skims for once. There is also a foam wall that is hard to spot that I fashioned out of some egg crate, coral skeletons, expandable pond foam, and surf board epoxy.

I started dosing BRS 2-part a few months ago and find it pretty easy to keep things in check. I dose 20ml each a day and just add it in with my top off. I do weekly/bi-weekly WC's with whatever the LFS is pushing that week.
There are three fish. A b/w saddleback clown, six-line wrasse, and a orange spot goby. Inverts are a few hermits, couple of snails, tiger pistol shrimp, scarlet cleaner shrimp, harliquin star, orange star.
pretty cut and dry KISS method has paid off for me.

I cant show my GF this thread in fear that she will see that I have called it my mistress and consider that cheating. She tells me it competes for her time and I cant get it through to her that if shes here and the tanks here that this is our time.
