So 2 days before Christmas I came across a deal I couldn't pass up on. I asked the wife before hand to getting another 3d printer she said no....ugh *** right.....but then I saw this 32BC for $150 and she said yes.....Woohoo Score!!!! Right....wrong....she said I could get it so she could enjoy it....lol. With the success I had with my 29BC over 6yrs ago I hope to have just as much success. I do understand the current LEDs do support softies and some LPS but i'll do another custom led build like before. Granted they may sit a few inches off the water but turning down the intensity for the right PAR readings i'm looking for shouldn't be that hard. It's currently sitting in storage until I get everything I need to set it up. Wife wants to go with the Hawaiian black sand this time around instead of the FIji Pink.

Stocking List:
Mated Clowns
Coral Beauty
Flame Angel
6-line Wrasse
Cleaner shrimp
Peppermint Shrimp

RBTA

Zoas
Mushrooms
Acans
Monti Caps
Torches
Frogspawn

Hey! Welcome to the Biocube 32 gang! That is a steal on a Biocube! They’re really great tanks and they have come a long way since the time you mentioned that you had a Biocube. The new biocubes have much better LEDs in them and aren’t necessarily worth upgrading in my opinion. I did end up getting additional blue strips from 21LEDUSA that make the whites look better, but the stock lights are great as they are. I went with these because I could keep the hood on and keeping the tank looking sleek. I’ll be making a video about this in a month or so on my YouTube channel, where I make videos about my Biocube 32: https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCEWCIj6yc7Goxg-ez80CbuA
The par is great, it supports softies, LPS, and most SPS, and the sunrise/sunsets, and blues are amazing. You may have heard people say they’re bad, but note that these lights have been updated 3 times (at least I believe) and if you got one of the new Biocube LEDs (v3 lighting), they should be fine on their own, and those remarks were made about the previous Biocube lights, which were awful. But if you do have really good lights in storage, they may be worth a try.
Good choice on the black sand. While it comes down to personal preference, I find biocubes with black sand look stunning.
Lastly, note that the angelfish you selected will need to be moved to a bigger tank as they grow up. I’m starting to face some issues with my Midas Blenny becoming too large for my tank and he’s very territorial. So you may have some aggression issues down the line to keep those fish all in that biocube. But if you don’t mind the aggression, and keep fish of the same aggression, then go for it.
Anyways, good luck with your build! I’ll be following along!

Thanks….while I’m sure the newer led panels do support corals I really prefer full control over my spectrum. I have used the AB+ and Nano Karen’s lighting profiles with great success in my 29BC but not so much on my 40Breeder. When it comes to my angels we’ve already planned ahead for a 60g shallow reef tank…lol. As for the leds since Reefll will no longer be selling their led pucks, nano box is closing their store and a few other places are as well I have found a alternative….so I’m going to try and use two of these:
US $33.25 | New type aquarium light led XR30 3535 led packing plate

And a bluefish mini controller until I get another ReefAngel to automate my tank, lighting and flow.

I tried to start my own channel with progress on my 40B but work usually left me without and working room. But working at Lockheed Martin I have 3 days off a week so I should be able to manage progression videos and everything else.
