My 40 gallon recife build

Absolutely. Mine are in 250 to 300 (maybe 350 at the very top). They dont encrust either, so you dont have to worry about it taking anything out. Just make sure you secure the frag to the rock very well because it's going to take off and it'll need the support.

The tnt (red) and green goblin anacropora are beautiful too.

Yes. Or even Montipora Digitata or Montipora Spongodes...
+1 digitata will make you feel like a reefer lol. That's a fast growers, and gorgeous coral. One of my favorites. In fact the digis are adjacent to the anacropora.

Like I am not sure what I can put on that flat section to the top left of the torch (top right section of the main rock) I thought maybe a monti would look good of some kind. I do have one zoas that like crazy par too. I am getting some new random flow generators and nozzle attachments so I can have four outlets so the water is not directed at the rock as well so that should probably help too.

That's about where my Bubblegums sit.

That’s awesome I do love fast growers. Right now I have not been dosing and just relying on automatic water changes. Since I changed salts my Alk is going down since the new waters alk is much lower than instant oceans but it’s hard to tell how much is from growth versus the change in water so I need to figure out a good amount to dose. I have all for reef in liquid form and was thinking of dosing it to the tank but if I dose it at the current strength it would be too high as the simple doser can only dose a minimum amount. I have the doser and dosing container all set up but I was thinking of mixing the liquid all for reef to reduce its potency with rodi water. I know people do that with the powder form but curious if you guys have ever done that?

I wish I could help here. I am very strongly considering AFR , but I've always done two part dosing with aquavitro fusion 1 and 2. I also boost magnesium.

I'd like to know too.
I don't see why you couldn't diluted it to suit your needs.

I haven't personally but it would work. The liquid is simply premixed powder in RODI. Cutting it to half strength (or whatever strength you need) with RODI should easily be done.

Yeah seems like the only concern is when its diluted it has a higher chance of organics growing as it would not be sterile is what people say. That being said I am happy to mix up solution more often than not. I honestly would not put too much in at a time and throw out some if it goes bad. Maybe a 50% diluted solution dosing 5ml per day so 2.5ml of true all for reef is a good place to start. I may even do a 75% diluted solution so I can split the dosing time up.

Alright so my thinking is I do 10.4 seconds total per day. I do 1 part All for reef (33%) 2 parts RODI (66%). Split the dosing into two parts. Simple doser does around 0.72 ml per day so that would be 0.24 mL AFR when diluted or 2.496 AFRml dosed per day. Seems like a good starting point.

It will be hard for me to monitor the changes though with my AWC system but I have been tracking my Alk. With how much coral I have in there though I assume it has to be consuming something already though.

Can you calibrate your doser ? (Hack it!)
Model ?

I have a hydros simple doser ready to rock. It does 43ml per minute. People say the minimum run time is 2-2.5 seconds. I would feel more conformable running it for 5-10 seconds just in case there is an issue and ideally splitting up the doses too.

I've never used this doser before... so I have no idea if my method is applicable.

jebao 3.4.
My calibration requires entering the operating time for "x" ml...
I change the actual time (calibration) to get half-doses, depending on my needs.

Or, less stability slightly, but you could dose every other day instead of every day?

And you're using less AFR, so it won't be as costly if you have to toss some.

Is this the model you have?

That's an incredible price for a 4 head system! How do you like yours?
Yes, exactly.
Around 2 years of use for now and 0 issue or broken part.
I monitor her dosage (ml) every 3-4 months...
it's fairly stable over time.
The only possible issue is the AFR; granules form all along the tube... but that has nothing to do with the doser.

The only downside is that it's impossible to change the hours between winter and summer. But I live with it.

Well this is a strong contender for me. The price and 4 heads are definitely selling points for me. Thanks for sharing your expertise on this with us.

Stop by anytime. You're tank is really nice, and that ponape birdsnest colony is killer!

Yeah I could but I kind of was hoping to dose small amounts multiple times a day so there is less alk swings especially with an AWC. I’m still playing around with it. The good news is I think since it’s going vertical the amount dosed is less than the 43ml per minute listed. Doing extensive testing but it seems that it is dosing closer to 20ml per minute. I did make sure no air is in the tubing and no kinks as well.

I will try diluting the AFR at that 33% and see how it goes. Going to calibrate it some more and do some final tests. I will test alk everyday. Also I will do the dosing before my AWC and test before the AWC to see fluctuations.

In total per day it should be only 2.5ml of 100% AFR which is half the recommended dose. If that is too much I may do it every other day or cut the dose in half.

Thk 😁

Ponape died last weak ! 🤦‍♂️
Thermal stresse i guess...
I took it out of the tank to kill an Aptaisia.
5 min. in a cold room (68°F).

This gives me the opportunity to put a Green Slimer and a GoldenRod (because of yours!) in this area.

Wait do you only feed 0.35 grams of food per day in your tank? If so I am curious what type of pellet food do you use?
