hiya folks just joined so thought i better put a tank thresd up
Will try and start from the top then ..lol
decided to upgrade from my red sea max back in feb 2009, so after a wee trip up to my LFS and a few long chats i came away with a Betta 1000
after struggling upstairs ( thanks Phil n Cliff) my living room looked like this :eek:oh:
IMG_0261.jpg

Painted the back of the tank with Royal blue tile paint ( it did exactly what it said on the tin lol)
IMG_0263.jpg

and set to work an the cabinet
IMG_0265.jpg

my sump looked like this - no good for the miracle mud system i had in mind ( here is Archie my cat checking it out )
IMG_0276.jpg

in the mean time i filled the tank to just under the weir with salt water and put my new sand in ( pacific black) and my new live rock
IMG_0388.jpg

yip also started to play about with the acrylic rod n live rock n drill ..... woo hoo ... boy did this make a mess  - ended up with one side kinda done
IMG_0396.jpg

Next........ set about making a frame for my Aquarays out of egg crate and 25mm pipe with some 25mm 90 degree bends and some cable ties ( all very technical... not !.. lol...
IMG_0395.jpg

sump ended up like this
IMG_0394.jpg

added a deltec phos reactor and a UV
IMG_0450.jpg

IMG_0448.jpg

Left this all to do its thing for 3 weeks ..................
Then came the transfer...........

Let me ask you, as an Acan addict, do you think they like a lot of flow or a little? A lot of light, or a little? To be hand fed regularly, or every so often? Just curious, mine always look a bit pinched. Thanks.

hiya  i target feed mine one a week but the get plenty pod life etc from the mud and algea set up most of the time anyway, most of mine are in a medium flow as the mp40w kicks out a fair bit all around the tank, and as for light , i have some on the sand bed low down and some on the rock work near the top, i have never found bleaching to be a problem even high up the tank but then again i am running the tank on LED'S. so quite a mix, hope this helps
cheers Julie

LOL, I like the pic of the cat, Looking at you saying, How am I going to stretch out in this thing. The new tank looks nice and all of those corals ought to do good in their new home.
