My First Attempt at the Big Time: WaterBox PP 230.6 Tank Build

Ok so before I watched the BRS video about stocking fish I thought I had bought enough fish to pick and choose alone. So with the GHA I thought I’d get a foxface rabbit fish. I bought it from Blue Zoo which I have never had issue with.

I learned later it was possibly ammonia burn from an overnight shipment and long acclimation period. Thought I was helping and only made it worse. Poor little guy never had a chance.

On a Better note...Bluezoo gave me full credit.

Then I watched this video in April! And connected with Elliot Lim at Marine Collectors check out the site it is a really cool way to chose fish. We talked a few times about what I had and where I wanted the tank to go and I came up with a list of what I wanted for the tank and he helped talk me through the order of introduction. The coolest thing is he QT’s the fish for you.

But before the fish would be chosen I decided to try to work on the clean up crew and the sump....

I couldn’t get chaeto to grow well in spite of having the light I thought was best...

I had been buying my “clean chaeto” from algae barn along with pods every three weeks and phyto plankton feeds.

I even got a couple of these guys

And these guys

And they helped the GHA a lot.

Then I decided to get some chaeto from another place in Florida only to end up with these in my sump...

Medusa worms? Who knows but I removed everything from the sump threw out the chaeto bc there were hundreds of them within a week. Luckily nothing got past the sponge and back to the DT.

Sorry yes my blenny was first fish in!! He is the one fish that made it through the power outage of five days back in late November. I only had the 29 biocube going at the time and somehow he survived it in a bag. I transferred him to the big tank and he had free reign ...then before I could get a lid (which I didn’t want bc of the look) he jumped without me knowing on the day I was beefing up the floor. I didn’t see him but felt him as I accidentally stepped on him! I tried to save him out him in a hospital tank and kept him alive for two days before he succumbed to his injuries. I do have a replacement. He is a great eater and silly and cute.
I’ll get a pic later today.

Yes for sure. He is such a ham. He eats incessantly it seems and has now learned how to get into the water column and eat frozen mysis.

No he is very skittish still. It is a feat to get a pic!! Would be better in a nano. He is a spec in this big ole tank.

Not sure how it happened but I missed a bunch of happenings with your tank. I read through and caught up. I liked all the posts and pics except the one below where you slightly resemble Quasimoto!

Sorry about the loss of your Foxface. Losses are always tough.

Thanks for sharing that hitchhiker site. It's one I've not seen and will also be passing it on in my travels.
