I set up a 60 gallon tank for just zoas.
I told my wife I was going to put seahorses in the tank...

Jokingly I told my wife unless you would let me put a gem tang in the tank...she said sure then I told her what they go for.

SHE SAID GET ONE IF U WANT!!!!!!

So I am looking for a gem tang now...

I called my buddy who Owens a pet store down here in sd area and he's making some calls.
I am so excited!

The smaller the better
If u don't know this is it

There just like yellow tangs.
I'm hoping I can get a small one.
Don't worry I have a 300 it can go in once I set it up.
I'm waiting for my house to be built before setting up the 300

Beautiful fish… 60 gallons does seem a bit small, but you have a 300gal tank to transfer it to...once the house is built and the tank gets set up. ;)

World Wide Corals had one as of 6/21/13. They don't appear to list fish on their website. You might want to give them a call. They can sit for a while r/t the high price. I have one and love mine. Got mine from NY Aquatics.

I would send NY Aquatics an email or Brett from Nice Wrasse. He had one recently.

First off anyone who has seen my display is not a member of the "tang police".

That said if the 60 gallon is a cube though I would be concerned about keeping a Gem even if it is only temporary till the 300 gallon is set up again.
The 60 gallon cube is only 24" wide so not much room for cruising.

Even a 3" Gem would only be able to swim 7 times it's body length without having to turn and my understanding is Gem's usually come in larger than that.

If it was me I would set aside the money in it's own "Gem Tang" account then bring one in once you have the 300 gallon up and cycled.

+1, For what you are about to spend, I would want to make sure to provide an environment for the tang to thrive in. I would hate to see you spend that kind of money only to have the tang die because of stress or other factors. Good luck finding one, Brett at Nicewrasse does a great job getting the fish eating and healthy before shipping, he would be a good bet.

Where did you find yours? And how much if you don't mind me asking! Also that's a great size! How is he doing?
