My Koralia broke......AGAIN!!!!!!

how depressing i was plan on upgrading the EVO instead of taking the dive in the vortechs, but after reading this guess will start looking for a good deal on some vortechs.

My buddy recently got an MP40 from SoCal Tropical fish and it came with a spare wetside for the same price. They'll eventually need to be serviced or replaced, so it's always good to have a spare on hand.

do they make mp20 anymore? no one ever talks about them and i never see them for sale so assume they only have mp10,mp40 and mp60. i have 4ft tank so i worry that mp40 would be to much and have to crank it way down.

THe MP20s were discontinued. Most people just upgraded them to MP40s anyway

thats what i thought, notice i didn't see any in a long time, guess its mp40 then and turn it down if needed thanks

I got lucky and picked my MP20s before they stopped making them, and then ended up upgrading them to mp40s anyway. It was kinda nice to break up the cost though.

I had the old Koralia 4s and added a couple Evo 1400s right before upgrading to Vortechs. Within a week of putting the Evos on a timer, one of them broke the rubber stopper and started running in reverse. Now I use them for water changes and they've been kicking the bucket one after another. They're a cheap way to get a decent amount of flow, but far from durable

+1 I purchased 2 1400s for a Frag tank. They would run fine for a couple weeks, then fail to restart due to calcium deposits. Mine are now relegated to mixing salt and I let MP-40s handle tank flow.

The Evos are turning out like the marineland stealth pro heaters. Made a few great changes, but forgot to include quality in their plans. I actually had the side of one of my 1400s blow. I was sitting on the couch and all I heard was a poof. I looked at the tank, screamed like a little girl in my head, then ran over. I was sent a new pump right away and received it about 5 business days after i sent them an email. Now another one of my Evos is vibrating and randomly stops working. I don't use timers or a wavemaker. I clean my pumps with vinegar every 2 months due to the obscene amount of coralline that grows on them.

i think I am going to try out the Tunze nanostream pumps before I go to vortecs. I just don't like the idea of having something sticking out the side of my tank. Ruins the look IMO.

Another pump to consider is the new sicce powerheads. Some push 3000+ gph. They are silent as can be and can be put on the back wall. When i upgrade my tank this is what i will use. Price is good as well as the 3yr warranty.

All 4 of mine broke the little rubber bumper. I thought my water movement looked strange. When I looked at the powerheads I would see each one spinning backwards. I tied a thin string to each one when I bought them because of issues of the older models spinning backwards. They corrected that issue. Now this one also seems easy to fix. Just make the front grill with a little more girth to it. The mesh is so thin, the constant on off combined with water chemicals come on I could design something better. When I contacted the company they sent me new covers in less than 2 weeks. I also asked it this was a design problem since having to pull all the wires and powerheads out and install the back-ups then pull them out and reinstall the new ones is a bit much, I got no answer on that. I don't know of others but for me once I get all 4 in the perfect position I will never get it just right again. I love my wavemaker and Koralina fit a needed niche for stand alone wavemakers but it they do not fix this issue they will lose many customers and they can't keep shipping replacement grills.

That is alot of GPH but my issue if I place anything that high GPH it has to be maybe a foot of two from any coral or it will rip it apart. If you bounce it off glass you get a sand storm. Isn't several low GPH better?

Just wanting to know what is koralia contact number or email.

Sent from my EVO.

Yea, you have to have a 6-8' tank to use them imo. There are smaller one's too more in your range and quite a bit cheaper.

Today marked 3 weeks....that's right 21 days since they acknowledged that their pump didn't work and needed a part....under the warranty!!!!!! As of now I'm over a Month and a half with a dead pump....since September 6!!!!

my update on my evos I never did hear back from my email so today I decided to go ahead and call jeez no 800# anyway got a nice girl who said that Mike took care of the tech stuff on pumps & that he would call me when he came in at noon I waited all day......and of course nothing at all called back but now just get a answering machine very frustrating MitchReef did you ever hear back?

The new ones are dead silent though no?

I sold mine before it ever got problems and moved to vortech. Vortech has been much louder to me. But I haven't kept the koralia longer than 4 months to know of its problems.
