1st, let me say that everything about my tank is either Neptune or Ecotech. I fully support both and have no regrets. The main reason for me adding this module is because I get deployed often for 6 months at a time. I like to have full control over every aspect of my tank, no matter where I am at.

The MXM I am sure will have more benefits down the road for me and for others I am sure. Set up for me was a bit of a pain. When Mobius had all the issues I put each device on its own tank with in the app and I had no more troubles with the app. Now with the MXM, all the devices need to be with in the one tank on that app. So for me I had to put all devices back on one tank in the app and that was time consuming. I have a total of 19 devices.

For the light setup...

I find that having two different toggles ( one for the "day lights" and one for the lunar lights) is a bit much. I think they should be able to put both of those settings in the same toggle. My layout now in fusion with the extra tiles are ALOT.. I can scroll for days to try and find what I am looking for. The good thing is once I got the 1st light set the way I wanted I could just copy the scheme and transfer it to the other lights. Which did speed up the process.

For the Vortechs...

Set up is much like the WAV pumps. I did not like those settings either, but again, once you get one down, you just copy and send it to the next one.

Return pumps...

I have not switched them over yet as I don't see the benefit of doing so. While away I am ok with the ON/OFF function the apex has for me to control them.

Now, my over all opinion of the unit, I could go either way with it. I know alot of people have been waiting for this device and they have been let down with the functions that it has or does not have. For me, I now have an extra way of controlling another aspect of the tank which I could not do before. Again, I leave alot, 6 months at a time.. I like having the controls if I need them. I look forward to what Neptune does with this device as I am sure they are cooking up more uses for it. I also look forward to seeing how others use this device. I will say, another drawback will be when there are issues with the APEX, what happens with the control of the lights? Pumps?? That may be something that no one has thought of. Only time will tell

That is all for now. Look forward to hearing others thoughts and uses on the MXM.

I installed mine yesterday and, for my situation, it's a godsend and well worth the $120 price tag. I just wanted to be able to control all my Mobius devices from anywhere. I have two tanks, both at opposite ends of my house in other rooms, and it's impossible to see all devices on Mobius unless I was standing exactly in the middle of my house. This made it a pain when doing maintenance or feeding both tanks at the same time, cause I would have to be right next to that specific tank to do anything through Mobius. I had to make two tank groups on Mobius, because it would sometimes just kick me out of the dashboard if it didn't detect one of the devices.

Installing and linking devices was straightforward and I had zero issues. I actually had a tougher time trying to move all the devices back into one tank group on Mobius so I can link and control them all through MXM. Once they were all connected to the Apex, everything worked flawlessly.

I even tested the reliability of the connection by unplugging an AI Prime on my nano that was across the house from the main tank that has the Apex on it, changed the spectrum settings through the Apex, saved it, then plugged it back in, and it immediately reconnected to the Apex and was using the new settings. This tank is in a room directly across the house, down a hallway, with a laundry room and a bathroom in between, and through a closed door. There is ZERO chance I would have connected to the AI Prime through Mobius from that distance and through that many walls. Once the Versa is compatible, the Mobius app will never be touched aside from calibrating new devices.

Yeah I hear alot of negativity on it thru the different forums. Like you said, tis 120 bucks, that is a drop in the bucket compared to some of the other prices we paid for equipment and such. I am sure that when I deploy again, it will be a godsend that I have it.

To start I have the MXM in the other room still in the box un opened. Its still in the box because apparently I have to reprogram all of my lights again and you cant have parent and child mode anymore.

We waited months for a product that's not living up to what some of us expected.

I don't care about the price tag but when the Mobius app does more than the MXM why change over? Just to have everything under one app? I'm almost certain I'm going to return it.

If you have multiple tanks with Mobius devices or want to have control of them while not having to be right next to the tank, it's really good. Other than that, it's not at all a necessity as it currently stands right now feature-wise.

I honestly don't understand how Ecotech can make all this great equipment and then decide to not support wifi connectivity on their mobius devices, and then have a buggy app on top of that. Compare that to Red Sea equipment that connects to wifi out of the box and actually has a working app that is streamlined and has a user-friendly UI.

I also stopped having the issue where one of my Radions would just decide to desync from the other and just go on it's own schedule, but it's only been two days, so we'll see if it happens through the Apex aswell. I doubt it'll happen again, since they're basically running their own copy of the same light schedule now, instead of linking to eachother using the parent-child feature.

I found out today that you can put multiple devices of the same type into one group, and control them all using one schedule/config page. This also removes that individual device's tile from the dashboard. I have multiple mp40s and XR15s, and now they're just three tiles labelled as MP40, Daylights, and Moonlights. Makes the dashboard look way less cluttered.

I am learning to enjoy the integration of my Ecotech powerheads and return pump, and I have already been working on some customizing to programming to help with use. Add in control for my pair of Versa dosing pumps and I'll be 100% satisfied! (SOON!)

Baka Mop that is a excellent home-run tip/suggest!

I’ve been using it for three days, having an issue with the Radions randomly dimming, I didn’t have this issue prior to install. I’ve also had one of my MP40’s that keeps showing “missing”. That said, I absolutely hate the Mobius app. I wish they would figure this stuff out.

Yeah i have had zero issues with the mobius app using's AI products.

This set it in stone for me. I will be returning the MXM. To much hassle just to have wifi. And yes mine is still in the box un opened. What a let down. :upside-down-face:

How do you set that up?

Ok, so its been a few months since I hooked up this device. I have found my first complaint.

The unit seems to be dimming the lights for a second and then going back to the normal setting, almost acting like cloud cover. (the box is not checked for cloud cover) It is kind of annoying more then anything, but I am wondering f it will cause long term issues with the lights them selves.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I thought it would eliminate the need for another app…not the case
It disconnects constantly …
on the plus side I can run common lighting programs now like AB plus, and it integrates

I haven't noticed that, but I have noticed that as the lights dim or ramp up, it does so in a "step-wise" fashion, vs a smooth ramp up or down.

Otherwise mine is still working fine with my 1x MP10, 2x AI Primes and 1x AI Blade Fuge

Go into one of your devices settings. You will see the option group. Name a group. Save it. And go to another device and add to group.
@Coolcasino do you have a “MXM for Dummies” version/instructions?
OR
@bigdog7 did you figure this out?
I don’t see anything of the sort when I look at my AI’s in fusion

I have noticed that as well, which at the time when I noticed it, I had a bunch of points in there. I have since removed those points and the dimming is still there. Originally I was thinking that is what the issue was as well. I sit in my living room, where the tank and the tv is. So while watching the tv, I notice the lights dimming often.

I just checked the MXM as well to see if maybe there was an update for it, but there is not.
