If you are talking about the bacterials "rip clean", does not apply. That is more of a call it that to mess with someone, as what they are discussing is increasing biodiversity to stop things that a rip clean just removes and then comes back later.

Too much rock is the issue. 400lbs in 180 or so gallons lol. Nutrients bottomed way outs the issue.

Then, when rinsing the sand make sure there is exactly 3.5 cubic inches per square foot of surface area of the tank?
