Just fyi these were previously classified as maxima clams, not crocea, but now are a new species t. noae.

Those are the hybrids of the crocea and maxima. Is that what they decided on a name? Noae?

Thanks. Good read. I guess I thought they were hybrids because of different descriptions of wholesalers. Good to know about the different species. I have not kept up on clams since mine passed. I am not getting more for my large tank at this time, so have missed newer info.

Live aquaria sells some hybrid clams from time to time, but I have never seen that label applied to clams with actual teardrop markings. Not that it matters really, but it's interesting.

Indeed it's a Noae maxima .. I didn't wanted to stress the actual name rather it's nice teardrop
