Recently, I was "incredibly" lucky enough to get a new Cade Pro Reef aquarium from my favorite Pod store, AlgaeBarn!! I am not a Pro Reefer as the title would indicate; however, knew that this was going to be the head start I needed to become one. After getting back into the hobby last year with a nano (20 years back, 50 gal saltfish only) This tank was exactly what I was looking for. Key points cade has were some of the reasons I gave it up (overflow and lack of plumbing knowledge...) Before I proceed…. AlgaeBarn, I cannot thank you enough!!! Not only for my dream tank, but for the help and advice you have given me along the way!!!

With that said…. it has been a long time coming with day to day, but I am finally up and running with my cycle. A little late with my build and I have been struggling my way through so decided to make this a priority.

So… here is where I am at!

Filled with (so) far:

Kessel AP9X
Sicce Syncra SDC 7.0 WiFi Pump
Reef Octo Regal 150SSS
Bulk Reef Titanium Header
Ink Bird Wifi Controller
CaribSea Oolite
AlgaeBarn Dry Rock
AlgaeBarns Nitrocycle and Fritz Turbo Start in Fritz

Pics are mainly my rock.... (will add more of tank next Post). The rock selection of shelf, cut base from AlgaeBarn was awesome!! i got a variety of pretty much any piece I could possibly want. I’m not good at aquascaping (tried my best) and can’t imagine the blob i would have had it not been for my selection.... After two weeks of designing, I called it good. think I’ll be ok once I I’ll with life.

next step... tank div for my fudge.

Looking great. I just ordered one of these tanks.
What are you planning to use for your filter media cups?
Any lessons learned to share so far from your initial setup?

Hi, sorry just reading this! I’m currently stocking my sump media with marine pure. I am determined to do a refugium and have the space by my sump... need to get something custom here. Have not purchased reactor yet as i need advice (new realm)...

As for my setup lessons, I watched provided install video and did not have confidence I needed, so it took a bit of googling and bothering AlgaeBarn, but they responded immediately and got me through it. It was more of a lack of confidence due to tank variance with instructions in video, I had it right all along. Only other thing was noise after filling, but again found due to lack of experience. Had to get my return pump and overflow control in sync and is now quieter than my nano!

I’d be more than happy to answer any specific hurdles you may have should you come across! Im still learning, but pretty confident I’m where I should be (so far :)). I’ll be posting more pics in next few days!

Two weeks into my cycle today and everything still going good. I think I may of found solution to get a fuge in my sump and hoping for some opinions on my setup... I used Bubble Fin Refugium DYI that I found on Amazon. Not a perfect fit, but worked out well with suction cup divider holders. Thoughts?

Thanks for the feedback. Glad you have your tank up and cycling. Mine is still on the boat to the US, so I am living through your posts for now ;)

What setting did you land on for your return pump?

Have you started a stock list?

Unfortunately, I'll have to attach a pic for you where the setting lies on the controller. I cannot get my wifi to work on this thing.... I never get the Sicce Network in my wifi settings. I will probably continue to adjust trying to get more power, not sure if I need it... my sand is definitely getting stirred up well and haven't even put my powerhead in yet. I'm still cycling (week 3 now and going great). It is getting close that I need to wrap up these loose ends.

As for stock... I have so many plans, still not 100%. I do believe I will be starting w/chromis... now my other must have's but they're so far down the tank maturity line this may take a bit. I will definitely be posting as soon as I have done more research.

I'm excited for you with the anticipation of your arrival. When do you expect? I know the feeling all to well and it is worth the wait!!!

So tomorrow I’ll be at week 3 with my fishless cycle. Started with live sand, Fritz Turbo start and Algae barn nitrocycle. Ammonia and Nitrite been at zero for a little over a week, tested Nitrate a few days ago and today and am 80 ppm. I’ve never had high Nitrate in other tanks, so complete Loss what to do... Help?

I’ll try to help you out a little if I can. At this point I made what I think was a big mistake with my tank after it cycled. I did not do a big water change to reduce nitrates before I added fish. I believe that one simple thing has caused me a lot of problems with nuisance algae over the last year and a half. Do a big water change or couple of changes to get the nitrates down and add a couple of fish to keep the bacteria going. I wish I had done that. Hope that helps.

Thank you! Getting ready to do 40% water change and prep for another if this fails... fingers crossed! if I’m good on Tuesday I’ll be going to buy a hardy cycle fish

Are you referring to excess power cords due to the short distance to control panel?
No, I still have all my cords hanging out like a bowl of spaghetti. I just need to take some time and arrange them neatly instead of just letting them hang down.

So I just looked at Zanthians build and saw he obtained shorter cords!! I bugged him to find out where :)

I purchased Kessil Mounting Arm. Think I can get extension for this as well (per LFS)...
