Hey Guys, I’m back in the hobby after getting rid of 1,000s of gallons in salt water about 6 years ago. Been working on this as time has allowed for the past probably year, and I’m starting to really be happy with the components I have in place so far.
As you can see, people who built our house had a real cat theme going on. I have been working on converting it into my fish room, and will eventually have it finished, walled off with a couple aquariums built into the walls, and it’ll be pretty spacious.
The small religion with the chaeto is coming down today. It was great, but I never picked up a pump it, it was being fed from my bra 2 stage filtration, which was a great speed of flow for that kind of thing, but seemed dumb, because I was putting the cleanest water through it. Anyway, I’m taking that part off in preparation to figure out a display refugium, with seahorse, pipefish, gorgs, macro etc.
Some things on my list to do next:
- find a good skimmer. I would like to find a large one that sides outside the tank, and is pumped up into, as my sump does fluctuate to some degree every 2-4 days I’d say not much, but enough that I don’t want to be calibrating like crazy, plus, I’ve got a lot of rock, and even some creatures in my sump, I don’t want to have to clear it out.
- find a cool tank to set up as a display fuge. The configuration of the space left is not a ton as I have a 270G acrylic tank I bought from the Toledo Library Main Branch when they shut down for remodeling that I’m going to build in the wall, hopefully this winter while I’m not quite as busy at work.
- buy some wood and finish the stand.
