My son caught his first fish today!

We held our NWIMAC meeting at a guys house that has a river running through his back yard. He was kind enough to have a few kids poles so we could take the little ones fishing. On the first cast my son caught a small fish and was ecstatic. Anyone know what this fish is? It was the only one he caught, but we had a great time. This is what being a Dad is all about.

No Sunfish Clearly a Blue Gill.

Notice the dark spot just behind the gill and the stripe patern.

One of the best eating fish if caught from healty waters. The meat is more solid than a Red Ear Blue Gill AKA Sunfish:ops:

nice! my son is a fishing freak! when you move here im sure he'd love another buddy to fish with. heres a pic of him. not his first fish but was his first northern(its a baby).

Ive always been an avid fisher, and those bluegill are my fav, easy to catch easy to fillet, and freakin great to eat... I have a few thousand fillets in the freezer already for my end-of-the-summer fish fry

In California we call sunshine what we get year-round and it comes from the sun..lol..
But that's neither here nor there...very cool pics with your son and the fish he caught.
