My SPS & Clam Tank

Thanks guys! It’s very exciting.

🤣 I knew it! I said Tangs. What do I win? More coaching? Ok that works 😀
Of course, haha

@rishma also correctly guessed tangs. 😉

So… I ordered a small-medium achillies. I thought I’d save a little, and maybe I’ll just get my feet wet. Nothing crazy, bold, or anything unusual like that…

Dr. Reef said he got a big one for me! Score! Yesssss!

Which one is mine? lol

Thank you so much. I’m ecstatic. They are the perfect size.

Yes. I instantly knew which one I wanted when I first saw the video. It was so active and vibrant. It’s gonna thrive in my high flow tank.

It’s the second one shown. The tank in the front.

Tomorrow I will see an Achilles tang in my tank. I can’t believe it.

Lucky 🤣 Can’t wait to see him tomorrow. My Anthias and flame angle arrive Friday.

Grats. Thats a big healthy looking specimen.

Side note. How long have you had the anthias? Do you find they pick each other off? Starting a 180 and thinking of adding a school but have done with chromis a couple times only to end up with 1 after a year

Anthias are superior to damsels 🤣 . I’ve had 3 for few months. No aggression whatsoever. That’s the big plus to Anthias they don’t kill off one another.

I would agree with the first part! I tried lyretails way back when in my standard 125g. I got 6 females and a male. The male harassed 3 of the females to death within a couple months. I was finally able to catch the male and put him in my 120 and he was fine there. I got 5 more females to add to the 125 and they integrated fine to the remaining 3. Everything was good for a couple months then 1 of the females started to develop more male attributes. The other 7 females ganged up on he/she and killed it. That kept happening every couple months until only two were left who bickered constantly. I dont know if it was tank size 6' I've seen them in smaller or maybe just the lyretails are like that, or possibly just my dumb luck.

I’ve heard that with Anthias. Maybe I’m just lucky with my ignitus. Out of curiosity did you feed a lot/multiple times daily? I’ve heard that helps.

Yup auto feeder with a mix of freeze dried pellet and flake 4 times a day and frozen enriched brine or mysis at night. Typically once a week I would feed live black worms as well. The anthias ate everything offered too. The only other anthia I have kept was a square spot and I only had one of those it was really chill as was the male lyretail once separated from the females.

The last water change.

I changed the carbon and added coral snow.

My tank will be nice and clean for the new guys.

I got the anthias just a few weeks ago from Dr. Reef.

Not one loss since adding them to my tank. They are eating great and look really good.

One of the females transitioned to a male.

I was initially worried for the Naso, but he’s completely different now. He has lots of energy, swims strongly, eats well, and doesn’t even hide anymore!
