update- im having a problem with skim film on top of the water. been working at addressing it. there!! lol

What are your nutrients like and do you have a skimmer running still? Is it in a sump or on top of the water.

so thankful for a spouse that is smarter than i am! 🫣 he kept seeing me mess around with stuff and fussing about it and looked at things himself. he found a valve that just needed opened a bit more to turn up the one return nozzle! i feel like that has really helped. i do think i have a bit of a dead spot in the center but not sure how to really fix that since the overflow box is in the center of the tank.
on a different note a got some new corals! most of them are from my favorite place- @Williamson’s Reef ! and 2 from another vendor. one from the other vendor came with a good sized aiptasia on it. now i have enough of these! dont need any freebies! so i scrubbed it with a toothbrush and dipped it. good enough?

Sometimes it just takes a second set of eyes! Hopefully that helps clear up your grime :)

Only thing that really works for Aiptasia is thermite.

One thing I've found that SEEMS to help is to dab, not wipe, the area where the Aiptasia was with a dry paper towel. It will pick up some of the base that was probably left behind. I usually then put a little Hydrogen Peroxide on the spot and watch it for a minute or so. If it bubbles, dab some more. Almost anything you use will just tick them off, not a good thing. The goal is to get all of the base. If the Aiptasia is on the plug, chuck the plug if possible. If it is on the coral you can usually scrap it and dap it pretty well but it may not be possible to peroxide it.

If all else fails there seems to be a small market from Berghia farmers for Aiptasia.

i dear. i better pull it then and try again. yeah, not a berghia fan. have spent a sickening amount of money on those to no avail
Berghia do work but anything else that eats Aiptasia may eat them and wrasses may try one or two. If they're nice and full of nematocysts then the wrasse will probably say, 'well that wasn't very tasty' and only take out the one it sampled but Berghia usually come in all white and hungry and tasty. Besides that it takes several of them to take down a healthy Aiptasia as the Aiptasia is pretty good at defending itself but has to leave areas vulnerable to fend off other attackers. Also eradication of a large collection of Aiptasia relies on generations of Berghia and common reef critters like bristleworms and amphipods may dine on the egg spirals. It is an uphill battle but Berghia are still the safest Aiptasia-elimination squad. Unfortunately, we live in a free market society that allows for demand pricing. If Berghia were more affordable they would be an easy to suggest solution but since an adult Berghia costs more than many fish, and you need a gang not an individual, and they only travel first class, they are hard to recommend.

The reason for the peroxide is not to kill the Aiptasia, it doesn't unless exposed to it for a very long time. I find that if there are still Aiptasia remnants on the area, they will tend to bubble a little when you apply the peroxide and let it set for twenty seconds or so. So if it bubbles, scrub and dab some more.
