Nice to meet all of you, I’m new to salt water aquarium but had a few years of experience in keeping bucephalandra in fresh water tank. After seeing one of friend start keeping corals, I felt in love with the vividness of coral reefs almost instantly, and patiently( not so much haha) started the Berlin method. The tank arrived my place around 5th Sept, and after getting the skimmer, led light and a few pumps, I started the tank 12th Sept.
tank size: 45cm cube
Rock: live rock, the structure was DIYed by using cement and glue
Light: LED with a app control, basically a copycat item of the Gen6 from eco, didn’t really know that in the first place
Skimmer: yes
Filtration: paper roller, another diy product and the paper is only 4.3 cm in width, but it saves my time at least a little bit.
Dosing: none, but I’m using a dosing pump to refill rodi water. About 250ml/day
refugium: a mini one integrated at the back sump( not sure if it’s working and also not sure if it helps anything yet)
UV light: 3 hours a day, I find this quite helpful to combat the algae problem in my fresh water tank, so I just replicated the idea.
Fish: 3 clown fish and a purple tang
Cleaning crew: 6 snails, we call it cow eye snail in China but I’m sure that’s not how you name it
Coral: some lps that I can’t name, and some sps frags which I can’t name too.
I started adding coral and fish right after the ugly phase without any testing, but I did my first water parameter test today:
No3: 1.56
Po4: 0.03
kH: 7.7
thank you for reading this post and I’m just so glad to join this welcoming big family
