Little bit of backstory here:
I got all of my live rock from a close friend of mine a little more than 10 months ago. He runs a bare bottom tank and never had any type of nassarius snail.
I put in some astrea snails also about 10 months ago, picked them all out by hand at LFS so I’m positive of their ID.
No rock, snails, hermits, shells, etc have been added since then; yet, I find this guy for the second time today. The shell was probably about 1 1/2” long and he was FAST. A small tube like thing protruded from the front of the shell and it’s striped black and white. I’ve never ever seen him during the day time, and he seems to only come out at night, dig in detritus, and stay on the ground. I believe him to be a nassarius snail, but I’m not exactly sure how that’s possible. Any ID ideas for me?
PS: apologies for the meh pictures, he’s fast!!
