Hello all,
I currently have a 90g and will be upgrading to basically a 180 (60x30x22) in a few months when I get the tank. It will be 80% SPS 20% LPS. Here are the fish I currently have:
(1) - yellow tang
(1) - black cap basselet
(1) - Melanurus wrasse
(2) - occelaris clowns
I would like to keep them and add the following:
(3-5) - Lyretail anthias
(1) - flame angel
(1) - potters angel
(1) - blue hippo tang
(1) - Achilles tang
(1) - flame hawkfish
Then a group of like firefish, chromis, and maybe Cardinal fish for schooling and filling in the tank.
I haven't looked to see if having 2 dwarf Angels is on with a bigger tank but I know it's typically a no no. Any experience with that?
Then there comes the question on the tangs. I have a 40g breeder for a QT and I'm nervous about being able to successfully put the tangs through that. Can some successful tang owners give me a pretty good run down for how long to QT them, anything added to the water like prazipro throughout to help make sure they are parasite free, etc. I have QT'd my current fish by just putting them in there while I raise the salinity from the 1.020 from the stores to 1.025 of my tanks and by that time it's been about 2 weeks. So I normally wait another week and watch for any signs of ich and if nothing I move them over.
I haven't actually used the prazipro yet because I'm nervous about killing some fish who might be sensitive to it with it. My plan is to add all fish but tangs and angels first, then angel(s) next, then tangs together. I have done a group of anthias before and they got flukes in the QT and all died. I never seem to have good luck with QT'ing groups of fish so the thought of doing both big, expensive tangs together makes me nervous. When I go one at a time my success rate is very good but anytime I have done groups it doesn't turn out so well for some reason. Don't know why.
Then there is the fact that I have a semi aggressive yellow tang that's alresdy going to be in the tank. I don't want the fighting to get out of control between the tangs when I add them. I'll be getting a large acclimation box to help with that for all new additions too.
Basically im looking for all helpful tips and experiences you can offer me before I start on this project.
